At a hotel in Omaha for the CWS and there is a travel ball tournament in town and was talking to some of these parents at the bar and holy crap do they blow a lot of money on this crap. And the worst part is these people actually think their kid will make it big too.

I've got some travel ball and soccer neighbors. I know at least one dad that hopes his kid gets bored with it and stops. frick it sounds terrible.

My coworker did it for 9 years. He averaged about 10K a year and he got off cheap compared to some.

His kid was never even got an offer to walk on somewhere.

They should force their kids to stay inside and play on their iPads.

Been there done that. Met some good families but honestly if I had to do over again some nice relaxing vacations would have been nice. Out of the teams my two sons played on about 3% of the kids got really got scholarships the best kid was JC flowers out of Florida state the rest small colleges like JU and UNF outhere and some junior colleges all over. The ones that made it they lived baseball 24/7 and spent thousands for these tournaments and travel expenses. Probably could have paid for the college outright if they would not have played sports. My daughter played travel soccer and the success rate for girls that excel is alot better for good to great college scholarships imho. My daughter is on scholarship at a small school in Georgia now (no pics).

If you are looking for single/divorced women with means, then put your kid in travel soccer.

Only 3% of players drafted in the MLB draft ever make it to the major leagues.
So, what you say may be true, but couple it with my info and we should weed travel ball down to maybe one team per city, max. More like just about 4 or 5 teams per state

My daughter's travel team were national champs in 2016 and they traveled the country:Las vegas, Maryland, miami, etc. Most of the 13 girls on the team got really good scholarships to SEC schools but their parents had money for the advanced training, good coaches that knew college coaches, and travel expenses. My daughter got burnt out at 17 years old but one of the college coaches remembered her from a soccer ID camp and offered a scholarship. It's crazy with these parents and honestly I was one of them.

They don’t realize it but travel ball is going to start hurting college baseball very bad. It’s already started at LSU but there will be more and more pitchers with injuries who come to play college ball. This generation of college players is the first true travel ball generation where they’ve played their entire lives in travel ball. Watch, injuries will become more and more normal in college baseball
