Pretty sure he’s admitted a few times that he’s a drug and alcohol addict
And hes continually here judging and berating posters for allowing their kid to play baseball in the summer, huh?

It's so depressing to watch.
Guess he should heed his own word

Myself and most of my family is pretty unathletic so we usually don't have to deal with this crap but I have an 8 year old niece that is an absolute best on the softball field. She's the best hitter, plays SS, the fastest runner, has the best arm, etc.
Sounds cool, right? Nope, now my brother is considering putting her in travel ball. I tried to warn him but he thinks it's part of being a good dad.
This is in a Chicago suburb.

My theory is that 99% of the people that make condescending remarks about it are people with absolutely no athletic skill whatsoever and/or sucked at baseball growing up. Today, they have no interest in baseball and hates the game.
Solid theory. The OT infatuation with with Travel ball parents is alarming

Travel ball pretty much ends when they turn 12-13. After that its school ball
after 12 and 13 it's called showcase ball
like NOLA Baseball Club, Louisiana Knights, etc.

who gives a frick if these people spend $10K or $100K/yr.
Like I said earlier in this thread.
I spent this in my 20s on alcohol and parties.
So what’s the difference?

It sure doesn’t anymore
But 20-30 years ago it did
now Legion is just a summer version of HS ball... idk if they let college freshmen and graduated seniors play anymore.

It’s their business what they choose to with their money and let it be. Ultimately, the condescending remarks are made by the jealous poors here.
I’d do it all over again if I could. Great memories and it taught my son humility. I genuinely miss it.

Travel ball folks blow my mind. I’m barely old enough that travel ball wasn’t around when I was a kid. It was Dixie Youth City League and if you were good enough, you made all-stars. People took pride in their town being competitive and always fielding good all star teams.
My brother is just old enough and was good enough to be around when travel ball was getting popular and he had teams from Jackson Metro actively calling my dad daily wanting him to come play, but my dad wouldn’t do it, and my brother didn’t really want to anyway. When baseball was over, we were getting to go to the farm everyday and do whatever we wanted to at my grandmothers house. We rode 4 wheelers and go karts, and hit golf balls all over that farm.
My brother basically took 3 or 4 years off from baseball, and came back in high school, and worked his way through JUCO and D2, and ended up getting drafted and pitching a couple years in the minors, but couldn’t stay healthy. His career was kind of the opposite of a travel ball kid’s. Never had much coaching, just got by on arm talent, but wasn’t taught how to use his legs and body more until right about the time his arm was going to shite.
When he quit baseball, he came back and tried to start teaching lessons on the side, thinking he could help prevent what happened to his arm. It finally just got to a point where either the kids were not nearly as talented as the dad wanted them to be or the dad was just a dumb frick, so he threw his hands up at the whole thing.

My sons name was biblical and sounded nothing like that. But yes that’s stereotypical for sure.

And asked to meet him at Sonic on Highland
