It's all analytics now. When these kids are "invited" to a showcase, most of the time the "invite" has a significant cost. No longer does a 60 time matter. Spin rate, bat exit velocity, launch angle, velocity across the infield, all this shite is the only thing that matters. Colleges are signing kids based on pure analytics and sometimes never have actually seen the kid play or compete in an actual game. If you don't know this then you really are clueless on how today's game is.

Travel ball doesn't do a thing to development a young kid. It only gives kids a chance to play and get more "reps", and 99% of their playing time will be done at a position they will never play.

If someone really wants to train little DiMaggio, they need to train on the analytical side of evaluation. But, don't think that playing travel ball for a bank manager or diesel mechanic is getting your kid any better, just keep forking over cash and they will gladly tell you how good your kid is

You’re not answering the question.

You’re gonna berate parent for letting their kids play baseball in the summer time, yet here you are, spending money on drugs and alcohol

I must be missing something here.

This is true. I know a kid that signed with LSU as a junior and CPM had never seen him play, and this kid just graduated and is heading straight to Cape Cod this summer.

College coaches get reports on players and may get to watch them once or twice while playing a summer tourney, usually the big one in Atlanta. 99/100 times, if a college coach, (its laughable when idiots say college scouts, there,is no such thing, only college coaches) shows up at an event they are there to watch a pitcher. Most could care less who is playing LF

Son was being pushed by his coach to drop other sports and swim year round. We passed on it. He ended up playing HS football, swam on 3 HS State Championship teams, and made state meet in track. Had plenty of time to hunt during the winter. He also discovered his passion of fly fishing. It works for some kids, but I don’t think he ever wishes he’d been in the pool every day year round.
