Prius starts at $24,850. Sonata (non hybrid mode like yours) starts are $24,950. Neither price includes TTL. So why are you paying the same or more for a car with substantially worse MPG?

It’s okay to say that the previous gen Prius was hideous because it was. But you didn’t mention styling as a qualifier.

Hybrids don't shine on the highway; they shine in the city. I do a fair amount of interstate driving (where hybrids are at their worst), and I generally get an average of 45-46mpg on a tank of gas over about 500 miles. But on drives around town? I'll routinely get 55-60mpg.

ETA: And that's on an Accord Touring, which is a heavy car with a fairly large engine for a hybrid.

I'm not sure why, but I need a grill on a vehicle in order to really like it. Cars look unnatural without them.

So Porsche has never made a vehicle you really like, as there has never been a Porsche with a grille.

My wife’s Toyota Camry with a 4 cyl. ICE gets 34 mpg and is a helluva a lot more practical. How you drive matters so much when it comes to MPG.

More practical how? The smaller cargo space?

I had a 95 Sentra that got almost 40 miles a gallon on the Hwy. My wife had a 93 Saturn that got 34 ish. I don’t understand how cars got less fuel efficient and starting requiring hybrids to get serious mpg.

Hell, my old 3.8L V-6 U-boat sized Buick Lesabre got 18 city and 38-42 on the highway.

If you think a 4 cylinder ICE engine is more "practical" than a hybrid drive train, I would be curious as to your definition of "practical".

Or, more commonly, people don't don't understand that most hybrids are regenerative and don't have plugs. Mine uses the breaking process to recharge the hybrid battery.
