I'm not sure why, but I need a grill on a vehicle in order to really like it. Cars look unnatural without them.

I had a 95 Sentra that got almost 40 miles a gallon on the Hwy. My wife had a 93 Saturn that got 34 ish. I don’t understand how cars got less fuel efficient and starting requiring hybrids to get serious mpg.
They didn't get less fuel efficient, the '22 Sentra gets about 18% more combined mpg than the '95 model. It also has about 30% more power and torque, weighs about 30% more, has about 30% more cargo space, and is safer. That's pretty good progress.

Gonna need some photographic confirmation of this. I’ll get you halfway home in the interest of pushing the ball up the field:

Those vehicles were significantly smaller and lighter relative to their new counterparts.

I say the same thing.

Instead of dual motors, my model car would be an all electric drive train, full sized batteries (over 200 mile range), and a gas engine/generator to recharge the battery for distance driving.

I'm not sure what you think you're proving here If you can't see the evolution of the design, that's a you problem. They didn't copy shite from Tesla. That's a comical claim.
