Truck Nuts Showdown

quote:

The Toyota Tundra took top honors as the most reliable full-size pickup truck in the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study announced Wednesday.

quote:

Chevrolet missed out in the light-duty category but was the top choice in the heavy-duty pickup truck segment. Its Silverado HD won over the Ford Super Duty and Ram HD. Ram didn’t earn a high enough score to be named. Toyota and Nissan don’t make heavy-duty pickup trucks.

quote:

The Nissan Frontier was best of the class among midsize pickups. The Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon were also recognized. The report didn’t say where Toyota Tacoma ranked because J.D. Power only named the top three. The Tacoma is the best-selling midsize truck in the U.S.

Doesn't one of the companies own J.D. Power?

Is there any more watered down award than one received from JD Power?

Listening to Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius XM in my Silverado right now. Waiting on my order at Sonic. Come fight me.

I love my Tundra and it’s solid but it’s not exactly cutting edge. If I was in the market now I’d lean F150 and look at Ram. Reliability is great but the F150 is such a fast truck i think it’d be fun to drive and the Ram looks good and comfortable.

No, but they are supported almost entirely by industry money. I much prefer the methodology of Consumer Reports and also prefer the fact they buy their own products, don't take advertising and are a non-profit with no shareholders adds significantly to their credibility.

I enjoy the rough truck ride. When I’m older I probably won’t. My wife hates it.

I have a '15 Silverado, and a buddy of mine has a '14 Tundra. Every time he's in my truck, he always mentions the difference in the ride... How much smoother the Chevy is...

My Tundra was good to me for 99K miles, but it was not a bad arse like my Raptor. Zero issues with the Ford, too.

I know Louisiana roads are shite but everyone on this board always talks about how a truck “rides”. The thought never really crossed my mind to care much about that but I live in FL.

I'm not a Ford guy by any means, but that Raptor is a good looking truck..

Would be the first and only Ford I'd buy...

No offense, but that's not saying much..

I know guys who put 2 and 300k miles on Fords and Chevys without problems..

Well yeah the Raptor is on a different level from anything other than a supercharged Tundra which isn’t made anymore. The Tundra has plenty power but it’s probably the most sluggish pickup. I’m a little disappointed in the acceleration of mine and I have the 5.7. The F150 feels nimble in comparison.
