Holy shite. It's like people don't know how credit cards can be used in 2018.

Why we use it. Points have helped on a few vacations.
We're just anti debt, so if we use the card, it gets paid off before having to pay interest. It's good to have for emergencies, and we still have an emergency fund, but knock on wood, we're month to month with it.

I never have a wallet full of cash. I take what I need and refill later. So far after 63 years, I have never been unfortunate enough to lose a wallet.
It works fine for me. You do what you want.

If used responsibly, a credit card is better than cash/debit in every conceivable way.
Some people don't want to use debt to fund purchases and that's perfectly ok too. Not sure why so many are baffled that not everyone wants to use debt when they don't want or need to.
The rewards and such just don't outweigh the risks of what happens when something comes up and the full statement can't be paid for some people.

You’re the idiot that’s in credit card debt

I'm not baffled by it, but it's still less advantageous.

If you pay it off every month, it's not really debt though.

That's just flat wrong on so many levels.

I'm still amazed at how many people don't understand about credit card rewards
I just paid 1,500 dollars of my credit card bill purely off of points I accumulated. Christmas didn't cost me a dime this year. Never paid a dime I interest.

Using credit and spending above your means aren't synonymous. It's pretty simple

No its not, it's called float. It's not debt until it's past due.

I pay cash for everything. My credit score is excellent. The less I use a credit card, the less chance of it being breached. My husband has had two breached and it is a pain in the arse. I am educated and not trashy.

This makes no sense, you cancel and get another one. That's it. Takes 5 minutes.
Just cancel the cash!!!

Ok, so 0.014% on $2,000 of monthly purchases comes out to about $0.29, rounding up. So yearly we're saving....
about $3.50
Nah, you should be getting nearly 2% on your cash now, so you're savings about $1.67 per month for every $1000 you purchase on a credit card. Let's say you purchase $3k per month, over 30 years that's and extra $5k in savings if invested at 6% annualized return over that time frame.
Is that life changing money? No, but people in here are saying saving $5k over 30 years is the option that's actually worse. That's asinine.
