I have a political science degree. Wouldn’t call myself a political scientist, though. I just became a lawyer. I don’t know what I would’ve done with the degree if I hadn’t planned on becoming a lawyer.

A lot of the classes had interesting subject matter, though, so I enjoyed the major.

Do you know a live woman that doesn't complain?

I just started my MBA and I am planning to focus on Accounting, but some of yall got me nervous lol. My degree is in Management but one thing or another led me to teaching math and I've been doing that for 6 years. Teaching is getting worse as yall can imagine so I wanted to go back for my MBA and figured accounting is a good route because I'm good with numbers and I have a background in business. I don't think I'm interested in going the CPA route, just probably try to work for a private company. Am I making a mistake? Should I look at other focuses for my MBA?

A degree is worth less than networking, being likeable and working hard.

You can make a lot of money doing the above.

A great degree can certainly jumpstart you those first few years though.

Well, there are no 4 year degrees that I know of in the medical field with "assisting" in their title. When assisting is in a title it is exactly that...you are "assisting" the professional, who probably makes at least twice what you are. In the lab field there are 1. Medical Technologist (Clinical Lab Scientist) with 4 year degrees, 2. Lab Technicians with 2 year degrees and, 3. Assistants with no degree and on site training. I'm pretty certain its the same in most medical fields. And no I don't suggest anyone gets into the lab field arena.

Yeah, that’s what’s odd about it being included. I’m wondering whether the survey is actually specific to 4 year degrees.

That being said, I would think PA’s have it pretty good.

Amazing how many humans are required to keep the computers running.

Not a CPA here, and no advanced degree. Accounting was a great route for me and I don't even like math. I'm in tax, never had an interest in General Accounting, but the degree has served me well.

That human resource management degree making the top 10 is a little suspect, however

i think alot of people would be surprised by "biology" or "biological sciences".

probably a lot of people majoring in that trying for med/dental/vet schools but not good enough to get in. without the advanced degree those are worthless.

I beg to differ. Our society is sorely lacking in educated people that can identify what a woman is.

Q: Why do accountants become accountants?

A: Because they don’t have enough charisma to be a mortician.

I couldn't imagine being a teacher and having to babysit a bunch of dip shits all day that come from broken homes. Then you have their mom calling you and cussing you out, telling you how lousy of a job you're doing. I'm sure these scenarios were never discussed in their college classes

When I started LSU in 1997 I wanted to be a history teacher, and I believe I would have been a damn good one, too. A year into college I had an epiphany and realized I wouldn’t last a week before slugging some little piece of shite. I realized I didn’t have the temperament for it. Later I realized another reason I’m glad I didn’t become a teacher was all of the drama and politics that comes with the job.

To most nurses, the seemingly free pass to complain like they do is a feature of the job, not a fault.

There isn't enough good mentorship in the modern world. Too many young people receive bad life advice when they're eighteen and it haunts them for the rest of their working lives.

MBA seems like a waste of money if you want to just do accounting.
