No, you can easily get your license out before the officer ever approaches your vehicle. Stop your car, grab your license and have it out and ready to hand to the officer.
Like I said, do what you want. It takes 2 seconds to get my info out. I prefer to do it when told and not move around in the car before the cop approaches. I have no idea what his or her state of mind may be at the time.

Do you inform the officer of the fact
Absolutely.
It's what you're supposed to do. Keep your cards on the table.

With Kentucky state law you can have a gun in any manufactured car/truck compartment (i.e. Glove compartment, console, under the seat, etc) without it considered "concealed" so no CCDW is needed for that.
If I had one in my glove compartment, I'd simply hand my insurance, driver's license, registration to the cop and inform him I'm carrying and exactly where it's located with my hands on the wheel until he informs me otherwise.

Inform him that I have a firearm and gI've clear detail that it is in my glovebox.
Idk why people don't disclose this information freely.

Anytime I've ever been pulled over...the cop didn't immediately approach me. It was several minutes before they approached me. Plenty of time for me to completely stop my car, turn off any music, and get my id and registration out and ready.
Even though I'm just a white chick, me having to fumble around in my purse for my id could make a cop nervous that I'm grabbing for a weapon. Plus...it speeds up the whole process if I just have my stuff ready to go. Shows the officer I'm not a complete idiot and ready to comply.

I'm 44 and white as cotton. My hands are on 10/2 and if it is dark my inside lights will be on.
As soon as he/she walks up I will let them know I am carrying and where my weapon is.
I want to make them as comfortable as possible.

Because cops get nervous when you say:
There's a 10mm under my thigh, a .45 in the glove box, a 12 gauge behind the rear seat, and an AK mounted to the roof thst you can't see.

I watched the video. You can use that technique if you'd like but I've had great success with my method.

Don't forget to call em doc. Cops love being called doc.

I always make sure to get my hospital id out(always keep it in my purse). Cops love nurses. That id (when I didn't have my scrubs on) has gotten me out of a couple of tickets

Concealing a gun in your vehicle and "carrying" are two totally different scenarios. If you tell an officer you are carrying you should be ready to get out of the vehicle so they can disarm you. Always good to be upfront in either case, if you are reaching for stuff while the officer can see you they will be a lot more cautious approaching your vehicle especially in light of recent incidents.

And when they ask you what you're so afraid of, you can honestly answer: "Not a fricking thing."

If you don'the tell you have a CC license and produce it with your license you lose it for 2 years.....they are informed as soon as they run you in the computer. You have to tell.

Like I do every time I've been stopped while carrying.
Pull over, roll the window down and put my hands on the top of the steering wheel. I then tell officer that there is a gun on me or located in the vehicle and await further instruction. I follow those instructions to the letter.
I've never been asked to hand over my firearm or had said firearm removed from my person.
I hand over CCL with drivers license. Officer checks records and warrants then on my way.

Roll down my window with both hands on the wheel.
Advise the officer I was a CCP holder and carrying (and tell him where on my person I had it).
Obey every command from there.
