TX law is I have to tell them. I always do anyway any state I'm in.

The requirement varies with the state, this shows the requirements of each state.

It also varies by state whether it will show if you have a CCL when your drivers license is run during a stop, in LA and TX it does.

Only if you are white maybe.

If you are black and start going into your glove compartment for a registration and pockets for a license then the situation has escalated. In LA we have two cops in each car. If you've seen in the movies one will approach first on the drivers side and then kind of hang back while the other walks to the passenger window and then taps on it.

Actually I've been pulled over and they announced on their speaker to keep my hands on the wheel or something like that. Pulling a black man over out here is serious business. Or maybe they do that to everyone. No idea.

Same thing I did the first time. I used to carry a gun when I drove back me forth to college. Got pulled over for having a tail light out. Told the officer about my gun and where it was. He told me to get out of the car and stand at the back. I did what I was told, he checked the glove box for the gun, found it, wrote my ticket at and sent me on my way.

No problems. I'm a white chick but I'm kind of ugly, so looks never help me in those situations.

I know the current climate is rough in certain parts of the country. But my run ends with law enforcement haven't been that bad (State & Sheriffs).

Just my 2 cents

Always tell them. Have your license and registration ready when they get there.
This is not rocket science.

I would do what this guy did

quote:

The lights go on and I pull over. The officer asks me how I'm doing, and then asks if I have any weapons.
"Yes, sir. I'm a concealed carry permit holder and my weapon is located on my right hip. My wallet is in my back-right pocket."
The officer explains for his safety and mine, he needs to disarm me for the stop. I understand, and I unlock the vehicle. I explain that I'm running a 7TS ALS holster but from the angle, the second officer can't unholster it. Lead officer asks me to step out, and I do so slowly. Officer relieves me of my Glock and compliments the X300U I'm running on it. He also sees my military ID and I tell him I'm with the National Guard.
Lead officer points out my registration card is out of date but he knows my registration is up to date. He goes back to run my license. I know he's got me on at least two infractions. I'm thinking of how to pay them.
Officers return with my Glock in an evidence back, locked and cleared. "Because you were cool with us and didn't give us grief, I'm just going to leave it at a verbal warning. Get that headlight fixed as soon as possible."
I smile. "Thank you, sir."

Philando dude was murdered. I don't give a shite what people would and or wouldn't do.

That's not acceptable in my America.

You are required by law to inform them, or you could lose your concealed carry license. Put your hands on the steering wheel, advise him that you have a CCL, and wait for his instructions. You will have absolutely no problem. This isn't rocket science. (at least to the law abiding citizens). I guess to some factions, this protocol, and the ability to follow instructions, is simply too complicated.

This.

Inform them all you want.

Pcastille informed them. And was shot. Dead. While a passenger. Being asked for Id for a busted tail light that wasn't even messed up.

For those who conceal carry, why would you want the gun holstered while driving wouldn't that be uncomfortable? In terms of having your gun in your car, can you legally keep it in the glove box? Or have a place to store it under the steering wheel.?

That's all speculation at this point

Hell I've got a tire pressure gauge with a handle that is so comically supposed to look like that of a gun. I'd be telling the cop this within 5 seconds.

the key isn't only to inform them but also comply with the cops orders. If you watch the GF video the cop says, "I told him not to reach for it." So obviously he didn't comply with his orders. Also, recent reports are saying the cops pulled him over because he was an armed robbery suspect. So you have an armed robbery suspect saying he has a weapon reaching for a place that he may be holstering the weapon. You can argue that it is justified.

It's easier to go throughout your day with it in one spot the whole time. It is not uncomfortable at all if you have your holster set up properly to your body type. Yes. I don't want it under my steering wheel
