This small minority is not emblematic of reality.
I’m a nurse, and the only tone with which we reference being “heroes” is one of irony
No one I work with considers themselves a hero, and the only thing we miss is the initial boost in resources, which have now dwindled down lower than they ever have been.
For example: we can’t find nursing aids because they can pretty much make the same as a fry cook at McDonalds, sans the arse-wiping. Good for them, but not so good for your family members should they be so unfortunate as to end up in the hospital/rehab.
I assure you, most of us are just trying to do our best to help our patients, and provide for our families.
