Is $28 sqft installed for new ventian gold or saint Cecilia a good deal?

It's builder grade granite so prices have come down especially with everyone going to quartz. If you like it that's not a bad price.

I'm not a fan of quartz, it looks cheap to me.

We went with marble but also considered quartzite.

Granite can also stain from substances like red wine
This is inaccurate considering I had an entire bottle of red wine shatter a week after I moved into the new house. No stains at all

FYI: Re-sealing granite is no big deal. Our installer put down good sealer and recommended re-sealer once, maybe twice, a year.

I try to hit it with Rock Doctor around New Years and 4th of July for a twice a year approach that I can remember.

You just clear the counters, clean them, spray on the aerosol sealer, wait a few minutes and then wipe it off.

You can buy other products that require more time and effort, but this works well for me. Liquids always bead up like on a waxed surface; no stains.

Just finished remodeling the kitchen. Used a marble called Alabama White. It looks great with dark cabinets.

Most granites don't need to be sealed.

Only lighter colors, more porous surfaces need it.

you don't have to seal it
2) Its crushed quartz and a resin so it can be made to fit your counter top better with less or no seams.

Why would you worry about sealing it? Do you think this is labor intensive process??

Quartz comes in sheets just like granite. The sheets are normally a good bit smaller than granite so you are more likely to have seams.

am also interested in the answer to this. I cook a lot and am worried about upkeep and staining of granite.

Mine have no staining issues and are highly resistant to heat.
