It was like that bedfore we moved in. A lady tripped on it and complained to the city. What do they do? Cite us and say if it isn't fixed by this date, you are fined.
shite like this isn't a good way to attract businesses. Fixing public streets isn't in the budget.
This has nothing to do with Nola, but when your insurance goes up $80k it sure does make it hard to have money set aside to fix shite that isn't yours.

1. welfare
2. public education
3. minimum wage laws
4. the drug war
What entity created these programs, and what has been their effect on the poor, who disproportionately commit these crimes?

At our place of business the sidewalk is broken up a bit. What does the city want us to do? Fix it. Fix public property.
I know in residential, your responsible for maintenance almost anywhere. Definitely anywhere I've seen in Louisiana (unless you're padnahs with the parish president)

Which is also bullshite. The govt. lays the sidewalk and somehow I'm the one responsible for it when it cracks in half.
What type of fricked up scenario is this? Who the hell said I wanted a sidewalk?

I think most agree it's bulshit, but it's still your responsibility.. That's all I'm saying
I've been down this road before myself.

you don't mind, please elaborate for me and give me some good news about Polite.
He is the one that finally brought Nagin to justice. Darren Sharper, Robert durst, and also Walter Reed's corrupt arse finally taken down when no one else seemed to even want to..... but a lot of his stuff is out of the court room. I've been at fundraisers with him where he specifically targeted disadvantaged youth. He also spurred an initiative to get businesses in the community to give prior male felons job opportunities. Believe it or not something close 50% of the males in Orleans parish have a felony record and this puts them at a disadvantage in the job market. Not all felons are built the same, some just need an opportunity.
But I'm telling you Polite was a damn good fed prosecutor and one of the main decisions I hated seeing Trump make.

I don't get this though, because the sidewalk isn't your property. Is it just a Nola thing? Because in baton rouge you can't just stand on the sidewalk in front of your house and drink. You'd get open container or public intoxication. Can't block it with your car. Can't just rip it up and say eff it, I don't want it in my yard.

Zach Lee to amp hill is literally doing just that. But, but, leave Nola alone. Why not start a thread about baton rouge? If he would read, there are plenty of them every day.
That's what I'm talking about. Head in the sand, well this stuff happens other places, let's talk about them instead of trying to fix the city.
lol k. there's a 4 ft. tree growing out of a pothole on my street that has been growing for 2 years. my street is practically a moonscape. the mayor is spending $30 million on a "security plan" for a neighborhood i almost never go to because he wants to protect tourists and is spending money on removing statues instead of hiring 5 more cops.
i live here, so i get why i care. i just don't get why so many people who don't live in New Orleans care so much about its problems.

I care because I work there. Because my mom was born and raised there, because I have family there.
Honestly I've looked at places to move there, but it's really hard to want to when they just used tax money to pay cops overtime to remove statues. The priorities are in the wrong place.
The problem isn't just Nola, it's the entire state. Threads are made about Laffy and other cities too when bad shite goes down.

It's because they hate where they live. They hate on NOLA to justify not living in NOLA.

Trust me, I agree. But I've had to tell homeowners that exact same thing. And I would tell them I agreed that it's bullshite. In your case, as a business, it's absolute bullshite.
I can't speak for older areas. But in any subdivision, the government didn't build that sidewalk. But they did require the developer to build it to get their permits. So in the end, those people actually did pay for their sidewalk.
Edit: and if your name is a combination second line jazz/South Park joke, then that's the best name I've ever seen.

Thank you.
Sharper and Durst are high-profile for sure. And it was necessary for him to do what he did.
I give him credit for the job program, too, thank you for that.
That is a help to the area, no doubt. We also need some of the politicos to get taken out, though.
I appreciate it, know, too, that I wasn't challenging you if it came across that way. I'm less informed, intentionally, than I once was.

so you spend a few hours a day in New Orleans for work, so you're super concerned about its citizenry and whether the city government is working for them?
You care about the city because your mom was born here?
If your family is still here, they must not be so concerned so just chill and enjoy Baton Rouge.
