To everyone blaming the government for NOLA's woes

It's not the government's fault your city is in such a bad shape. It's the people who live there. Safer cities don't necessarily have more effective leaders, they just have better people living there. The government doesn't shoot people. Citizens do.
Also, sitting around bitching about statues isn't going to fix anything. If you truly want your city to improve, get up and do something about it instead of waiting for the government to do it for you.

things are kinda shitty here right now, but it's amazing how much people from other places think about New Orleans, while people from New Orleans don't think about these other places much at all.

You sure do worry a lot about a city that you moved away from because you're scared of black people.
Worry about the Northshore pussy.
Worry about the Northshore pussy.

Government makes decisions on police, school, taxes, public housing, etc. The government kinda matters.

Every time I try and tell the "people that live here" to get there shite together I get called a racist.
Can you give me some ideas about what to do that will fix my city? I've lived in New Orleans for 23 years oh wise Honky Lips. I'm all out of wisdom.

You do realize it's the government doing this, don't you?

We'll never know unless we try.

You know what influences people living in NOLA? The leadership of the city. Good people are leaving the city every day as the leadership continues to make stupid decision after stupid decision.

Tell that to the fricking leadership.

The leaderships is causing these issues. This is about the time I'd say you're better than that, but your post history proves otherwise.

tourists love new orleans, admittedly, because they don't have to live here. people who live here usually love new orleans enough to keep living here while they bitch about it. interestingly enough, it's the people from N. LA and the Northshore and BR who seem to be so butthurt about stuff that happens in New Orleans.
i don't give a frick about what happens in BR. i don't get on the internet and call BR a shithole outside the gates of LSU.

No kidding.
Successful tax-payers that don't commit crimes are leaving because of government policy. Sure, it's the shitty people that commit the crimes but the local government caters to the shitty people.

Thanks for the groundbreaking news. I never would have thought that.

So the citizens should form a vigilante squad to increase security due to the lack of police resulting from the hiring freeze implemented by Half Moon?

I think you are underestimating how ignorant the majority of voters are in New Orleans. They have been doing something.....voting in the same people time and time again because of their skin color.

Eh, I love New Orleans and have lived here the past 4 years, but I'm one of the 'good people' that is going to be taking my money elsewhere this month.

What about all those people that are boycotting New Orleans because of the monuments? They swore they would never spend another dollar in the City.
Those people are still bitching.
I find it hilarious that New Orleans can effect someone's daily quality of life and that person doesn't even live winthin 60 miles of the city.

And who elected these people? The same ones making the city a shithole.

If you truly want your city to improve, get up and do something about it instead of waiting for the government to do it for you.
And the OT will love this, I'm completely colorblind
You're a simpleton that thinks there is a simple solution to a complex problem. It's both a bottom up and top down issue. If you don't think the leadership in this city is an issue when they are the ones that hire the officers, the amount of officers, implement policies and rules of engagement on criminals, etc etc etc, then I don't know what to tell you.

This is bullshite. The government was so bad that a lot of the good people left. New Orleans used to be a prosperous city before bad leadership took over. Now you have to fight through the ineffective government to get anything accomplished. It's tough but it's gotten better in certain ways.
