white people from outside of Orleans Parish act like Mitch Landrieu is General Pinochet because they're butthurt over some statues.
he's a terrible mayor for many, many more reasons than that.

That's comical. You really think the people of NOLA will take action? No, they're too damn lazy. Nice try though and you get an A for effort.

A lot of it has to do with with the state and city government of the past few dedades. We have a state constitution that only allows cuts from health and education. Probably the two things that would pay the most dividends. A more educated populace, living longer is a good idea. Then you have the citizens voting based on race, family name, and whether or not they can tell a good joke. How long till you guys vote Ronnie LaMarque into office?

Finally, someone calling for the statues to be forcibly put back up.
When do you start?

Years of liberal leadership that has allowed this welfare culture is the problem.

Well when it comes to things like education, poverty, crime, business, infrastructure....you know, the things that really suck in Nola, gov't plays a HUGE fricking role.
To ignore that is like saying Venezuela is in the shape they're in because the people, not the gov't.

He'd do a much better job than Mitch. Ronnie has actually done something with his life. Not saying I'd vote for him, but I'd take him over Mitch 100/100 times.

I like to refer to the Northshore as the Tri-City area.

Indeed, but the statue situation is kind of a microcosm of why he sucks. Instead of worrying about the major issues in this city, he's busy wasting resources on furthering his agenda a d political career. The same can be said for most mayors of this city.

No doubt there's a large criminal element in New Orleans that is out of control.
But as an outsider looking in, it seems to me that New Orleans has never funded and built up a top notch police department. It's been corrupt for a long time. It's been undermanned and poorly led.
With all the tourist business they get, you think that they would do their best to patrol the tourist areas. You'd think property taxes from hotels would pay for a lot. You'd think that sales taxes from the tourist trade would pay for a lot. You'd think the hotel taxes would pay for a lot.
You have to wonder what the city does with all of their tax dollars.
And no the statue controversy has done nothing to improve the situation there.

And it shouldnt be looked at that way. Just because he is better than what you have now doesn't make him qualified

I'm not too sure you read my post correctly.

But the television ads would be horrible to watch.

Well, we agree on at least one thing. Can't wait for my dad to get out of that shite hole. That city has been apart of my family for a loooooong time. I have so many memories, but it is just not worth it anymore.

of course, but in the grand scheme of things, attempting to extort the citizenry into paying for the city's firefighter pension debacle in return for hiring more police, enacting a multi-year hiring freeze for the police department in a notoriously crime ridden city, and continuing the multi-year failure to attract any real business investment in the city are all far more egregious offenses on Mitch's ledger, but the Prairieville/Shreveport/Northshore contingent don't care, because it doesn't affect their lives.
Neither does the statue situation but it involves muh heritage.

I think you are underestimating how ignorant the majority of voters are in New Orleans.
Bingo. This is the same thing that happened in BR. The people interested in maintaining the status quo outnumber the people that are not. So you will never get functional improvements so long as the majority exists that would rather blame their problems on other people.
And when people try to take drastic measures, like forming their own city, they are called racists, etc.
