Time changes tonight

Will be dark at 5:30 starting tomorrow so plan accordingly. Doesn’t seem like this switch affects me as much as the one in the spring. The one in the spring takes my body a couple days to get used to it seems.

Thank you for this. I had no idea
This is what makes tigerdroppings so special

We need to just stick with Standard Time.
The reasons for DST no longer exist (agriculture and family labor). It has mutated into some bullshite "energy saving" excuse, along with whining and bitching that kids have to catch the school bus in the dark.

I think you want the "daylight savings time" and not the "standard time".
Daylight savings time is what we have in the summer
Standard time gets dark at 5

Let me rephrase it, the standard time people are the ones whining about the bus in the dark
Personally, I want DST. I want additional sunlight after work
The idea that there is a "standard time" at all is just a social construct. There is no single "intended" way. The sun didn't come with numbers attached to it. We made those numbers.
I think the bulk of American society says with the way the current work day is and the current school day is, it would be nice to have daylight in the afternoon to do stuff

Stop putting the “s” at the end of “saving”, people. Good lord.

Standard time matches human circadian rhythm much better than daylight saving time.

DST wasn't invented to help farmers. Farmers were generally opposed to DST. It was introduced during World War I primarily to conserve energy and make better use of evening daylight.
And today, the energy-saving rationale is weak, while the health and safety arguments for permanent Standard Time are substantial.
The school-bus issue isn't the main reason to oppose DST, but it certainly isn't an imaginary one. It is a legitimate safety concern, documented during the 1974 experiment with year-round DST.
The most defensible position is: abolish the twice-yearly clock change and adopt permanent Standard Time.

Who changes plans for this that needs to be reminded about it on the OT?

No. You’re just weak. Mentally and physically.

Congress tried stopping the change before (as an attempt to "save energy" back in the 70s), but what they did was make DST permanent. People got pissy because kids were having to wait for their school bus in the dark (news flash: some of us at the beginning of the morning route had to do that anyway), so they changed it back less than a year later.
They haven't made a serious attempt at just letting standard time remain for a year or two (which would be the real test) to see how it works out, instead they are again trying to make DST permanent because they just can't help themselves but to pick the worst choice.

Walt, you’ve always held a special place in my TD heart as the only person I’ve met randomly in the wild, asked if he was on TD, and immediately knew his TD name.
And at a place I’ve been to only twice in my life: a Biloxi casino blackjack table. You (or maybe it was your friend) also immediately knew my cousin by name just by my description. Now-deceased Jackson attorney Sam Wilkins.
Pardon the hijack, but I thought this thread deserved it.

Why should society prioritize sunlight at 7 AM, when many people are already inside working or attending school, over sunlight at 6 PM, when they're finally free to enjoy it?

If you were a real man burning rods at 4am you’d get off at 3
