I’ve been a SAHM and I’ve been responsible for a bunch of shite at work. Give me work any day. I’m glad I was able to stay home with my kids until they were in elementary school but I’m more proud of the life I can provide for them by working.
Is that personal preference or because you’re claiming SAHM is harder than working?

Being a SAHM mom isn’t so much hard as it is mind numbing.

Oh I loved it. Planning activities, meals, outings, etc all day every day. I am learning from the internet now that I ran my home like a Montessori school
Eta- if all my children lived close I would quitmy job and do the same with all the grandchildren now instead of them being in daycare. I love having the kids for a weekend or week and doing all the things.

Notice that the majority of her “load” is just being an adult. She’d feel that way if she was a single boss girl living in an apartment in a city.
Women like to call this “mental load” when it’s really “weaponized anxiety.”

I loved being with the kids but it was very much the same thing over and over. We used to do nature walks and find leaves and stuff then look it up and study it. That was my favorite part. The endless chores were not.

There's a stay-at-home dad on Instagram and all the moms hate him because he talks about how easy it is.
Dishwashers, Roombas, wash machines, dryers, microwaves. Throw the dishes in the dishwasher, throw the clothes in the wash machine, start up the Roomba. How long does it take? They could be done with most chores by 11AM. Once kids are potty trained, they can be a joy to raise.
Wine moms are a trope because they have so much time with nothing left to do all day.
If the mom doesn't stay home to take care of the kids, they still have to be taken care of. Who is affected most by the idea that women can have it all and be a girlboss and a mom? The kids. They get raised by someone else at daycare for those 8 hours a day. And before we say, well nowadays moms have to work because it takes 2 incomes to afford things--women fought for things to be this way.

Who can afford to stay at home these days
My wife quit her FNP career 4.5 years ago to raise kids. She now has 3 kids under 5.
It's actually pretty do-able with a proper budget in place.
In terms of her daily life, she works hard, I give her that. She also bitches that it's the hardest thing in the world, and I remind her how hard it is when she sleeps until 7 every day and gets a 1-3pm nap that all 4 of them get to take basically every day.

Ironically, I’m a work from home husband and my wife leaves for work every day.
I do 80+% of laundry, cooking, cleaning. I do 100% of dishes, grocery shopping, and yard work.
She mainly stays on top of kid’s school and bills.
She stayed home for 12 years till both kids were 10+ in school because she didn’t want to be a tennis mom or sit around the house.
I make 7x her salary from home in shorts.

Upper middle class white women have it soooo hard in this country.

As the “stay at home dad,” I’m up first, get coffee ready, get lunch for everybody, help them get out the door, and then clean from 7:15-8/8:30 every day till I have work.
They come home to a clean house every day and it takes 20-40 minutes at most.
I think most of these women’s problem is that get caught doomscrolling or watching TV instead of actually getting to tasks at hand.
Dont get me wrong. Younger than 5 is different but if you have potty trained kids, you have plenty of time.

My wife has been home for almost 9 years now. If I ever catch her mingling with ideas like that meme, she's going to back to the mines.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted on this particular thread lol. I’ve seen this meme making the rounds this week and you’re calling out the exact failure of its logic.

Downvotes on TD are weird. A significant percentage of posters will downvote an OP to show that they disagree with the content, even if the point of the OP was to disagree with the content.
Then again, votes on TD have literally no purpose, so it doesn’t really matter either way

"Lord loves a workin' man..."
Most working women would gladly trade the stress of work to be a stay at home mom.
