My wife is staying home, and honestly we don't really make enough to do it.

But I see the difference in our extended families' kids who were around their parents early versus those who went to daycare and it is.....stark.

Also, I'm not at my earning ceiling yet. We can scrape for a 1-3 years and eat the stress if it means that long term our daughter gets to be around her mother and we get to raise her the way we want.

My boss has a toddler who goes to daycare and she always says that she just couldn't stay home and that she would have went berserk. She loves her work.

I'm with you, I could be a stay at home dad tomorrow. My wife is excited to do it.

Id much rather my only scope of responsibility be that pile she's dragging. If you keep up with it you're spending an hour per day tops on everything except childcare but being able to be with your kids all day isnt a chore, its a blessing.

I think this is a great example of the "Men are like waffles; women are like spaghetti" explanation of our differences. Men see that set of tasks for the "stay at home" parent and go, "Ok I can compartmentalize each of these tasks and create an orderly structure to effectively complete them all". Women see them and it's just a mess of inter-connectedness that overwhelms them and leads to inefficient execution in completing the tasks.

I think the SAHM types think "work" as a singular thing that isn't that mass of interconnected tasks similar to those she faces daily, but on creatine, steroids, and peptides.

Attach the woman to the man’s rope and it becomes pretty accurate.

I’ve been a SAHM and I’ve been responsible for a bunch of shite at work. Give me work any day.

I’m glad I was able to stay home with my kids until they were in elementary school but I’m more proud of the life I can provide for them by working.

Most of that can be combined into "work" but that would make it look way more even.

This is accurate. I also don’t categorize her load in the pic as separate work, but as tasks within the job, which is not pictured within his load.

Lol. This is like saying it takes 3 hours to do laundry because you count the time the washer/dryer run and not just loading them and folding.

I do like sitting in the yard waiting on a brisket, though.
