Sales has great financing plans up to 25 years at 19% apr. buy the most you can afford because it’s a great investment.

Anyone who spends 3 months salary on a ring is either really rich or really stupid.

That's still typically the "standard" that would be suggested if asked of a jeweler etc...
I honestly believe the true standard is whatever your particular choice in woman demands as the standard. If you are marrying someone that is a social media attention whore that takes endless selfies, pictures of her meals, and washes peoples faces with vacations etc, then you are fricking doomed. This whore will break the bank.
If you happen to find someone that is grounded, and not into the materialistic side of things (but still likes nice things), then you are going to get out of it relatively unscathed.
How she was raised, what she grew up "having", and just what kind of person she is will tell you what you are going to have to do to please her. And that's just the ring. Once you have to please a whore like #1 example, it will NEVER stop. EVER.

bullshite. She will take what you can afford. If not she ain't the one. All she cares about is money. It's about love. Move on

Good friend says buy a nice ring but not too nice because in 10 years when you are making good money she will want a bigger one
I did the opposite, I bought her a ring so nice that in 10 years she still won't want a bigger/nicer one.

It’s strange to replace an ENGAGEMENT ring. Getting her a different ring is cool, but you don’t replace something that is literally a one time thing.

I agree.
I would also like to know the trucks notes of all of these fools balking at spending more than 3k on a ring.
I personally know someone who drove a 75k truck and didn't spend more than 2.5k on an engagement ring

Let's not forget $50k Skeeter, camp, hunting lease, etc.

"Walk-in closet or a diamond ring?"

Is that still the norm?
It's the norm only because De Beers marketed that to jack up the price on diamonds. Diamonds aren't that rare but somehow De Beers convinced everyone they are the most valuable stone you can buy and have to get one for an engagement ring.

manufactured diamond and don't look back...she gets the size and bling, you get to keep your cash. And NONE of her gf's will ever know the difference. This is coming from a guy who dated the head of bridal division for Stuller settings. She always said what a waste of $$$ on the real deal. Just another angle for ya!

Month and a half and the ring is custom-made. You can either care about the cartel or you can care about what your wife likes and wants.

I saved three months gross salary and spent less than one month gross salary. By the time I saved up I knew I was making the right decision and had some extra funds to take care of the honeymoon.
If she needs a carat then you need to go elsewhere, because she'll need half your shite in a couple years.

There was zero chance I was financing the ring. Even my fiance would've been pissed.

Depends on the girl. If she is very materialistic I’d spend the money or she would be disappointed. My GF isn’t so I’ll spend 6-800 probably and she will be fine. She likes small rings anyways. All depends on the girl and your income
