In years with good weather how fast do you have to run to be in the top 500?!?! A painting as a reward is really cool

Anyone coming to Georgia for the Bootlegger 100 this weekend?

Man that was one of my choices, but my running group chose the Blue Heron instead... It was probably for the better though since I had covid a week ago and since healing up I've been able to drop 80 miles in 7 days as kind of a "endurance cram".

Only 2 more days to go, did 10 @ 8:34, not 100% sure where the speed came from but felt very strong today.

Everything is starting to bloom and my daughter's vocabulary is exploding, so it's absolutely priceless going on runs with her now and asking her questions about the color of flowers, how many etc.

My daughter makes me keep my pace up because she starts talking to the other runners and if I slow down she gets very angry because she wants to keep talking to them

I guess it goes without saying, but I only run with her during a few run clubs
MacKelvie has phenomenal videos, I recommend him to people all the time
20 today with the local run group, it's usually at this point that I say, "so ready for recovery" ... But I still have 4 more days of 10 miles each :sigh:
I got covid last week... on the 2nd week of my "build" cycle, exactly a week after my recovery from the 62 miler I did 3 weeks ago :banghead:

So I am on the mends and decided to run 10 miles every single day for 9 days, except for the 5th day - I will run 14-20 miles tomorrow.

Fun stuff, but today's run was actually pretty enjoyable, only 3 more weeks until my next 100 miler! Let's Go!

What's your run walk ratio. Been trying this for a few weeks and have been enjoying it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but Jeff Galloway recommended:
3 run / 2 walk on "maintaining" days
4 run / 1 walk on "Building" days

I do 6 run / 2 walk when I'm doing an easier run/walk and I "build" with 6/1 (this would also be my "race day" ratio)... but I only to run/walk at random times

Also keep something in mind... Do you know who Ethan Strand is? He was really good during his high school years, but his parents were both XC coaches and pushed him to not push himself before college too much.

He didn't get burned out, while he was "impressive" in high school, a lot of other runners looked better than him at different times.

His younger brother wasn't given the same, "stay constrained" lifestyle by his parents: by the end of college Henry Strand will not be as decorated as his older brother - even though his high school records are MUCH BETTER than Ethan's

I am now doing the Louisiana Triathlon

Seriously though, welcome to the crazy house.

Did my first interval session in 3 weeks, and first "hard" run since the 62 miles, just fartleks between 1 and 3 minutes for 4 miles... my body still aches but my vo2 max prediction went up a point! :nana:

and my own gayness.

I mean, did you decide to shove a dildo up your butt for 30 seconds during the middle of the race instead of keeping running?! You probably shouldn't do that going forward

Did you guys see where the L.A. Marathon is offering people finisher medals if they complete 18 miles of the marathon?

I would be absolutely PISSED if I was signed up for this, I can't believe the LA Marathon would be making me run an extra 14.9 miles to get my Ultra Marathon Medal. I WOULD BE TICKED

Get an AYN Thor

Honestly - AYN and Retroid are the way to go, but they are also pricey. They are 100% worth it, but Anbernic is an ok alternative if you don't want to spend a lot of money... though I find Anbernic and other cheaper options to be very hit or miss, my 7 year old loves his Anbernic Gameboy Advanced Flip device (but he still plays his Switch more, probably because of reliability).

I see all these adds on Facebook and etc for retro gaming systems that supposedly have a plethora of old video games through emulators. Are any of these sellers actually legit that are not scammers?

Don't do it, lookup this channel and go down THIS rabbit hole, not those ads:

Retro Game Corps

ETA: There are a million different ways to play older games via emulation, but so many of them aren't worth your money, RGC lays all the information out for you in a very easy to digest format.

I've been doing my retro gaming on the AYN Odin 2 Portal for the last 5 months and it's AMAZING, but everyone is different with what they need.
8 miles - 5 solo at 8:30 and 3 with a stroller at 10:09

Similar to Aubie - Ate pizza and drank Dr pepper (cause I can't afford wings and I don't drink alcohol )

What was the format?

2.1 miles, 40 minutes

200ft of elevation and very technical trails.

The 40 minutes felt generous until the technicality of the trail meant you didn't want to wait around after finishing your lap. After awhile I couldn't get any food down and stay, and with 40 minutes per 2 miles I couldn't "speed it along" to get past my issues. So I just got worse and worse until I called it
I did 62.4 Saturday... turns out the "Backyard Ultra" format is kinda brutal in a very bad way  This one was on a trail and by the end it was manageable, but it was tough, very tough. Couldn't keep any food down, once I got to the end of the big climb at mile 59 I knew my time was coming to an end.
I know this group isn't probably super big into Jeffing but for the running community as a whole we should all pour one out for Jeff Galloway tonight. Dude probably brought more people into running than any other person. Almost everyone I talk to started their journey doing run/walk, he was a huge force behind changing people's opinions about "walking breaks". So whether you ever did run/walk or not, hear! hear!

Don’t understand this logic. Weather is the one thing you’ll never control. Either you’re trained for a marathon or you’re not. What’s the worst that can happen. You don’t hit that PR. Oh well but you gained experience for the next one if you get another opportunity. Life is short

This, weather is just weather.

In January getting the flu is bad, sickness is just terrible, but the weather? Ya gotta YOLO that race:cheers:

ETA, PS: KS I have my first backyard ultra this weekend! For now I'm going for the win!

Problem is wrist based heart monitors are not reliable. I just run at a comfortable pace for easy runs, have never looked at heart rate.

Also in my experience: "zone 2 cardio" especially as it relates to running is waaaaaay too over prescribed to newer runners. When someone is first starting out they are not going to be able to truly do "zone 2" training... It takes time and experience to learn what "zone 2" means for yourself, lots and lots of experience.

I always just tell people to run when they can and try to enjoy it, because once you stop enjoying it you've probably pushed yourself into "gonna get injured" zone
quote:

Y'all make me sick with these ultras. A 14 mile long run when I was prepping for a half made me question why anyone would do even a marathon

If it makes you feel any better - after running a 100 miler I also don't get why people race a Marathon, it's a terrible distance

Played around with ladiga. Would be the fastest 100 I ever ran lol

I want to run Ladiga, but I have 4 friends running Blue Heron... hard to pass up running a race you know you have built in support vs. one you do not.

Also Blue Heron has a better buckle
