I can personally attest to turning out to be a productive member of society after having missed several days of kindergarten while on vacation to Disney world. Your kid will be fine.

Called the teacher ahead of time and got all the homework and/or coordinated. Never been a problem.

It depends. Where is he/she in the pecking order? If he/she is top bird, then your kid can expect a change in power when he/she returns. If a mid-level bird, then he/she might have to kick one or two asses when he/she gets back. If on the bottom, the trip might actually help the kid rise a few notches. Kindergarten ain't all play time. Decisions like this can impact a kid for the rest of their life.

It won't negatively impact your kid...the problem is how stringent they've become in this state with respect to attendance, even at the kindergarten level. I think they can miss no more than 10 days for the school year.

Sure. They probably learn more on vacation than they will in school.

This is the only thing that concerns me. I don't really care about him missing the days. Just having to determine if it's worth the risk because kids will and do get sick.

I did this exact thing two weeks ago for all break. Let the teacher know and he/she will provide that weeks lesson plans.

Parents should be able to take their kids out for a few days if they want, regardless of grades. As long as they aren't missing something that's crucial, they can always make it up.

I take my kids out to go fishing. Sometimes i dont want to work and they dont want to go to school. Both kids make As and Bs. I would rather have a kid that has fun in school and make decent grades than one who stresses out all the time and makes all As.

Just do it. They're not going to miss anything of great importance. It doesn't become a real pain in the arse until middle school.

Do it. He'll have to repeat kindergarten of course, but he'll be bigger than the other kids for sports later in life. You have to establish priorities early.

She’ll learn more in life experiences than sitting in a dumb classroom crapping in her pants
