Thoughts on Taking a Kindergartner Out of School for Family Vacation?

Up here in North LA (yeah, we suck) kids only get Monday and Tuesday off for Mardi Gras. We're thinking about taking a vacation that week. Would we be terrible parents for having our kindergartner miss school the remaining 3 days of that week to go on the trip?

No. Your kid isn't going to turn into a tard because they miss 3 days of coloring and learning to count.

I know how I feel about it and I think it's completely alright but I've seen some mixed responses and feelings on it. Wondering what the almighty OT had to say about it.

Good luck getting that kid into college missing those three crucial kindergarten days. I don’t know how your kid will ever catch up intellectually.

I take my kids out almost every year. It usually takes them a day to catch up when we get home. Trust me, in the long run the vacation will mean a lot more than a couple of days in class.

I don't think it's a big deal. It's not like there are any tests or quizzes that are going to be missed. The memories of the vacation are probably more important anyway.

This is why other nations are outpacing us in intellect.
For fricks sake man go have fun with your family. Maybe have your kid read a little or say some numbers or ABC's. Kindergartner wont miss a thing

We've done it several times with our kid. Called the teacher ahead of time and got all the homework and/or coordinated. Never been a problem.
FWIW we get on a texting level at least with all our kids teachers so we always have good communication. So missing is never really a problem because we have them do the work or do extra work to keep good grades/progress.

Nope, we take our children out of school for vacations . Or for just day trips somewhere or whatever.
Not a big deal unless you're child is missing a LOT of school.
