You'll Set the 5 year old back weeks if not months if you do that.

I did this for my preschooler and the preschool told us she would be on probation because of it and if she had more than 3 absences in a month after that she's kicked out of the preschool. It was because they get government money for vpk and if the kid misses a certain amount they don't get all their money.

We are taking ours out for a few days for a trip to Disney. They get 10 unexcused absences a year.

I did it to two elementary, one HS, and one JR HS kid. They missed friday before Thanksgiving Holidays so we could take all four to the LSU game in Knoxville.
Key is planning. Tell the teacher(s) way ahead and get all work done or tests taken beforehand.
Just don't be a cocksucker.
And FWIW Kindergarten doesn't even take attendance. Dummy. Do it.

Do it. We are going to Disney second week of January. Taking the 6th and 2nd grader out for the week. They were out that Friday anyway for some teacher thing. Already discussed with the teachers sending home some of the work so they aren’t too far behind.

we did it twice. took our kindergartner and 2nd grader out this year. Teachers and school could care less. 2nd grader hated life making up the homework, but he survived.

You might want to check with the babysitter ... oops, I mean teacher ... but I'm pretty sure the three days after Mardi Gras are lesson planned for introduction to calculus. If your child misses the coursework in those three days, his/her probability of a STEM degree will decrease dramatically.

High school kid, no biggy
But at this age I will say no. This is where they need to interact with peers more than anything
At the same time I doubt they miss anything so yea to vacation

My dad had tickets for me and him to go to the Arkansas game this year. I had to watch my kids and couldnt find a babysitter. He was disappointed and said he got the tickets sold. He died suddenly, 2 days later. The tickets were sitting on his desk.

As they get older, don't do it. It teaches them it's okay to miss here and there for school (work). Just my experience. At K level, its okay to do it.
