Sure they did but the country grew we learned how to drive cars we embraced the new shopping for groceries etc and every thing grew with it.
100 years later we’re wore out, too many options now, too much stuff to get done, easier to get it all at one place... big box type store or on line.
They really did help shape the shopping standards that amazon is now disrupting.

Their original business model was that of Amazon's current model. They literally founded and developed the model. They sat on the infrastructure to continue that model, but did nothing with it.
An interesting development
is that Amazon has started to shift into brick and mortar as well. It is a cycle.

Yeah I guess they did sit on it, but what I’m saying is America needed to go thru our extended shopping experience, with sears came the mall and Main Street more stores more options we embraced it, we went out shopping there and else where went out to eat movies etc.

Back in the 1960’s/1970’s, Covington had a Sears catalog store. You’d shop from the catalog at home, go into the store and place your order, and pick it up when it arrived. It was nice because you didn’t have to rely on the USPS and you could return merchandise there. They used to sell firearms under their Ted Williams line. Good stuff!

You mean they had "Free In-Store Pickup" like every major store in the country has rolled out over the past few years?

Couldn’t wait for the Sears Wish Book catalogue each Christmas as a kid. I remember back in the late ‘70s there were two full pages of KISS merchandise in it. Circle the stuff you want and wait to see which ones appear under the tree...
