The one in my hometown had a fair number of appliances in stock, on the floor, while most everything else was ordered.
Speaking of the catalogs, there was one in the 70's that had a male model's schlong hanging out of his boxers.

Sears had tens of thousands of employees on pension when it went through that period of time in US history and thousands of large buildings that turned essentially worthless by outside forces
Amazon never had to deal with either of these two things
So its kind of a bad comparison
