My grandfather was the oldest of 4. When he was 16, his father was killed in a car accident and his mother ran out on them shortly after. He raised his siblings in a small shack in E Mississippi with no govt assistance and they all, including him, turned out to be contributing members of society.

Yeah and I doubt your grandfather grew up in a ghetto and thought Master P was a role model. That whole culture is fricked and we keep paying them to multiply. I'm just saying that unfit parents shouldn't raise shitty kids, and need them taken away so we can break this cycle.

Living like kings.

In other countries they work long hours in brutal conditions for pennies a day.
They live in shacks and mud huts.
No running water. No AC.

People here should show some damn gratitude.

There should be no fat poor people. People in "poverty" shouldn't have cable TV and video games.

People in "poverty" here live better than the Kings of old.

It's all perspective. In America 2016 everything is a right, nothing is a privilege you earn.

The irony is that if minimum wage were to actually increase to $15/hr, McDonald's would likely fire and replace her with automated machines within 6 months.

I feel sorry for the lady in the video, but raising minimum wage just isn't a long term solution. How anyone doesn't see that this will just be passed on to the consumer (her) is beyond me

No, he grew up in a very poor rural area during the depression, but I get your point. I think we need to focus more on de-incentivizing their senseless procreation rather than just being able to hand those kids off to be raised by the state.

No, this is life when you willingly sell your labor in a market with a huge amount of supply, which means a low wage.

Unskilled work SHOULD have low equilibrium wages. It's called allocating resources.

You sure as shite can, it's the CPS. And some would argue that it's one of government's most important roles, protecting children from abusive guardians. I'd be great with beefing up that department and forcing people treat their kids like kids instead of sources of income.

Meanwhile Wal-mart and Mcdonalds are laughing their asses off while America supplements their employees financial short comings.

Walmart and McDonalds would raise prices to adjust for any raises to the minimum wage as would every other part of the economy and then these people would be griping that the new minimum wage isn't enough to live on.

Minimum wage jobs aren't meant to be an end but rather a beginning for young people and teens to build on.

I love their idea of how nothing has to give. Utopia is obtainable.

Total fools.

Not really. America is fat and making burgers/fries is not difficult.

Very good point. People making 200k a year in San Francisco have figured that out.
