person in question has
smart phone
obesity
larger apartment than my first two residences
Person in question only working one part time job but has nearly free child care, essentially free healthcare, and greatly reduced food costs
her baby daddy is in jail
she needs to make better decisions, needs to find additional work, needs to stop spending inappropriately, needs to eat less

Not really. America is fat and making burgers/fries is not difficult.
Seriously.
I love how people think dropping frozen potatoes into hot oil is a marketable skill worthy of middle class wages.

"I don't buy fresh fruits and vegetables because it's not guaranteed it wouldn't be eaten all"
There it is folks.People just aren't hungry enough. I guarantee you if the bitch was hungry it would all be eaten.
This piss poor documentary has me steaming.

It's literally like living in a third world country, right?

If I was in charge we would just let these people die off. My compassion is gone. Use the money on the children and if they don't want to end up like Mamma they will study hard.

Remember when poor people used to be skinny? And how is it everybody elses problem when she's working 20 hours or less per week. Of course you're not going to make a lot of money working a fricking PART TIME job.

Exactly. I can assure you no child support is being paid. Me and you are paying child support for her.

People here should show some damn gratitude
This is easy to see all you have to do is go immediately across our southern border in the factory "villages" you learn the true meaning of want and need.

Maybe she should have gone to school instead of the bedroom.

You must have missed the part where she said her baby daddy was incarcerated.

So much wrong with that piece.
1) $7.50 is a teenager wage
2) Work at McDonalds for years and not a shift manager, something is obviously wrong with you
3) Lives in apartment by herself on $7.50? How much gubment cheese is added to that for food, housing, etc?
4) Improve your skills, improve your wage.
Anyone working minimum wage for years is marginally employable or in High School.

Is she worth $7.50/ hour? That's what she should be asking herself. If she isn't, she should be thankful. If she is, she should be content. If she's worth more, she should get off her arse and go get it. Order up business cards for $15. Stop at a nice neighborhood on the way to or from work and go door to door offering her service with a smile. People love a go-getter and she'll quickly find out what she's worth.
When I was a young man I lost a job and partnered with a friend. I had to go door-to-door selling roofing. I found out pretty quick that I was worth a shitton more than anyone would ever dream of paying me by the hour and decided then that I'd never work for anyone again.
So many people have no idea what they're worth and are scared to find out.

1- looks like she's eating well
2- work more than "part time"
3- get a second and/or third job
4- she doesn't need a smart phone
5- sell your car and get a bike/public transportation
6- find another job other than working at McDonald's for $7.50/hour

Would be interesting to know how much earned income tax credit is received each year. Add in EBT or like cards and that 7.50 hour probably goes up substantially.

The title should be "This is life when you make shitty decisions and expect everyone else to take care of you"

Walmart and McDonalds would raise prices to adjust for any raises to the minimum wage as would every other part of the economy and then these people would be griping that the new minimum wage isn't enough to live on.
Walmart was created because of government policy and the war on poverty. If these policies didn't exist, neither would Walmart.
Walmart serves a valuable function. Provides low cost products which exponentially increases the quality of life for poor people.
Both the poor and wealthy benefit from this, but the welfare benefits subsidize low wages already.
The welfare cliff is a fine example of how a single mom making 20 grand a year can live as well or better than a single man with no children making 40k a year.
