Mid life crisis hitting hard bra? Just wait a year and you’ll want a boat too.

Very dangerous in today's distracted driver world.

If you get a Harley, get one that is manageable to handle and not intimidating like one of those huge rod hogs. Maybe a Fat boy would be a good size to get started.
If you buy a Harley, just be ready to come out of pocket on an on-going basis. Like, every time you walk outside, take whatever money is in your wallet and just throw it at it. They’re absolute money pits. Fun to ride. Loved Harleys. But man are they money pits.

Not really interested in Harleys. Just looking at used ones around 3 or 4000

It’s way more dangerous to ride a motorcycle now than it used to be - and it was always dangerous.
With cellphones and other distractions, you couldn’t pay me to ride a motorcycle.
At least in a car you have some protection.

Get a mid 2000s Honda Shadow ACE, they will run forever, good low end torque, tons of aftermarket parts and they look pretty cool. You can get on one for for about 3k. And if you dont like it sell it.

Many years ago I was an RN. I worked in the surgical intensive care unit and picked up occasional overtime shifts in the ER. Based on that experience…and what I witnessed…I wouldn’t ride a motorcycle unless it was off-road.

As motorcycle's raced by our car, my father would say, there goes another ORGAN DONOR!

My bil thought about buying a bike. A guy brought one by his house to test drive. He was found a half mile from their house. He hit a pothole and landed on a concrete base of a light pole and the the bike landed on top of him. Left behind my sister with a 2&4 year old boys. Think long and hard sir.

Are you a donor on your license? All kids are adults? Wife has a Jody on standby to take your place?

I am a very frequent rider, but do not suggest it for anyone else. If it is not a compulsion for you, just walk away now.
But if you must do this, go and get trained by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation through a dealer of the type of motorcycle that you think you might like to own.
The training often changes what people want in a motorcycle and how they choose to use it.
And then you can ride with more confidence and safety.
Once you have had one for a while, go back for advanced training a few times - especially if you make any changes in what you are riding or add any special equipment.
Invest in your own skills and safety.
And remember that all of the cages are trying to kill you so it is your responsibility to deprive every one of them of that opportunity by riding carefully and thinking far ahead of them and your own cycle.

Don’t do it if you value your life.
