i don't want to do nothing, i just don't think gunfights in schools is automatically going to make things better and in fact is more likely to make things worse.

I wrote let them train the same as cops.
YOu think cops get in firefights all the time? One reason there are problems with police shootings or low accuracy rates of fire is because unlike combat vets, they rarely have to fire their weapons or get into a combat type situation. How many of them besides the street narcs or SWAT guys get into multiple firefights in their careers?

I happen to agree with you, and I like the strategy you propose.
The qualification shouldn't be easy.
And more than likely, there would be very few teachers that opt to take the effort to train and qualify. Then again, I would imagine that those who qualified may encourage a few others to give it a shot. Having 1 or 2 trained teachers in a school would be much better than having none.
I would also suggest that the identity of the qualified teachers be kept confidential, therefore a potential "shooter" couldn't strategize based on this information.
And also the shooter would have no idea what/who he was actually up against.
The whole philosophy of disarming everyone in facility only makes it easier for a potential nutcase to execute his plan, and perhaps more tempting.

It’s kind of hard for Trump to argue that we should train teachers when his budget cuts money for education.
Why was it ever the federal government's responsibility for local education?

What happens when multiple teachers, each with a gun, start trying to find a shooter? How will they communicate so they know what the shooter looks like? What happens when a teacher accidentally shoots another teacher?

Arming females and PE coaches for a close quarters gunfight in a room with 15 plus children and a perp with a rifle is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard.
Taking a course with Barney Fife down at the local gun range doesn’t prepare you in the slightest for what happened in Florida.
Charge them a fee? Are you fricking serious right now? Do you know what teachers get paid? Do you know what the have to spend out of pocket to make their classroom functional? And you want THEM to pick up the tab on this? Oh, gofundme? Go frick yourself.
The cognitive thinking skill on some of you simple fricks is as shallow as a kiddy pool.
Stop posting.

If you’re going to pass Federal law allowing training for teachers in public schools, you can bet your arse the majority of states are going to want Federal funding to pay for it.
