The band was from the Erath area. The guy he was introduced to was my dad. Been knowing Trace since 1985. He was painfully shy at the beginning but quickly adjusted. They won the first round of the Wild Turkey Battle of the Bands at the Last Roundup in Duson. Then they won the regional round in Dallas Texas. Finally they came in third in the national final in Nashville. They toured the Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico area for the next 1-2 years.

None of this is true.
ETA: My parents know his mom very well. They were good friends in the 80s and 90s. I'm older than Theo so don't personally know him. His dad was old as frick. Trust me, he did not have an easy upbringing.

That’s where he went by the name of “Tracy or Tracie”. An old tool hand I used grew up with him. They were good friends back in the day.

Tuition was under 10k per year at that time for out of state. Fasfa would have paid 2025 plus stipend, I believe 2900 per semester at that point. Stafford loan would have easily covered the remaining 2k as well as living expenses.
That assumes no job.
