That's one way to look at it. I'd say it started to lose it's way very early on and is so off course at present as to be completely unrecognizable as the church Christ started and is now corrupt in every imaginable way
You talking about the Whore of Babylon?

It depends on what is meant by "the same God."
The God of Islam is the God of Abraham, so in that sense, yes they are the same God. But Muslims do not share the belief in the trinitarian God of Christianity. That may sound like doctrinal nitpicking, but it's a big deal, both theologically and philosophically. In that sense, the Christian God is not the same as that of Islam.

Only according to Islam. Allah and Yahweh are two completely different deities in the teachings.
It's like my co-worker who drives a Bronco sport who argues her SUV is the same as the Bronco another co-worker drives. You can say that it is a "Bronco" but in form and function it's not the Bronco, it is another thing completely.

But yet they are both Broncos

This is wrong. Islam recognizes Yahweh and Allah as the same deity. They also recognize Noah, Moses, Elijah, etc. as prophets of God. They also recognize Jesus as a prophet, but not the Son of God. They also differ on who Abraham’s chosen son was. Isaac vs Ishmael. This is another reason for a split between the Arabs and the Jews. They descended from Ishmael.
The 12 tribes of Israel descended from Jacob, Isaac’s son.

They are not the same. Both Deities with Abrahamic origins, but not the same.

Jesus changed everything, He was supposed to. Not sure what Mohammed was driveling on about - some people just can’t accept the truth.

Islam teaches they are the same. Judaism and Christianity teach they are not as Yahweh is completely different than Allah in the teachings.

The Catholic Church recognizes that Yahweh and Allah are the same God from the Old Testament. Neither the Jews nor he Muslims recognize the trinity. Do the Jews have the same God that Christians do?

quote:Yahweh for Christians and Jews alike is the same God of Abraham and Isaac. While theologically they may differ on the acknowledgement of the plurality it is the same God. The difference lies in the sacrament and rending of the holy of holies destroying the barrier between followers and Yahweh and providing all with an audience with Him through the death and resurrection of Christ.

And for their saying, "We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God." In fact, they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, except the following of assumptions. Certainly, they did not kill him. Rather, God raised him up to Himself. God is Mighty and Wise.

These verses are where we see the deceitfulness of Allah. He is asserting here that Jesus was not crucified before the ascension, but rather Allah made everyone think they saw Jesus crucified by making everyone see another man as Jesus that was crucified instead. It is ascribed that Allah did this to punish the Jews for wanting to kill a Holy man, and that the Christian faith used this trick by Allah to continue and see Jesus as the Savior. Digging even deeper into these writings the destruction of the veil was also punishment and effectively excommunicating the Jews from God.
The Quran does reference the death. It just teaches that this death was an illusion and succeeded ascension.
