What I really enjoyed in the summer up in northern Washington was that it was cool at night even when it got up to 84 or so during the day.

Last night I opened all windows & put fans in front of 2 of them to flood my studio with cool air for overnight. Shut everything up this morning, hopefully the place can hold the cool for 8hrs. Just got off work & headed home to see if it worked. Fingers crossed.

Just sad because this kind of exceptional heat up there will kill some people.

That's the bad part. This isn't just your common heatwave that happens once or twice a year. Record highs will fall, and a whole lot of people will be coping with it.

My dad has been retired for almost 20 years and he spends most of his time in Montana now because he hates the LA heat.

I can’t stand it either, every time I’m back in LA during the summer I’m reminded of how miserable it is

MIL is aboot 100 miles due N of Seattle. She came to visit us in BR in '97. Our house was cool, even though it was hot outside. She walked around, looking for window units. Once she realized that you can get residential central A/C, she went home and had it installed in her house.

She will be Okay through this.

In laws have a place with a nice view and we can WFH till September. Plus, our nine month old (as of today) is their first grandchild, so they're getting to spend a lot of time with her.

I hope Northshorebamaman got ac or he's going to be walking around the grocery store a lot.
Still no AC. Luckily I'm camping up in the mountains this weekend.

Not an air conditioner to be found up there either

We don't have one in Missoula. We may be adding one.

At least out west, you can hike up to higher elevation and camp in cooler temps. I would plan to do that anytime it was announced a heat wave like this was coming.
