The president elect is a female. That's huge for any branch of LDS.

The RLDS are the ones who broke off from the LDS after Joseph Smith was killed in 1844. The new faction was led by Smith's son back.

quote:

Anew prophet-president has been called to lead the Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or RLDS church.

Stassi D. Cramm, 61, will be the first woman to hold the office if her call is approved by the 2025 World Conference. Until then, her title is prophet-president designate.

I don't know enough about this sect or LDS in general to make a clever one liner except to say they apparently don't believe in bras.

Look at the Mormon's getting a step up on the Pentecostals. I don’t see a woman ever being the leader of a true country Pentecostal church. Some of those churches have crazy rules, and treat women just like the religion of Islam.

I get that the polygamist jokes are just jokes, and no one probably cares, but the RLDS have been anti-polygamy from their founding, and even added the R, because, even though they believed themselves to be the original church, they wanted to distance themselves from the (polygamist at the time) mainline church.

This isn’t the mainstream Mormons of SLC. I think this has to do with the Midwest pre Utah Mormons.
