After watching the documentary, I don't see how the NOPD, FBI, and DEA weren't all on the take. I refuse to believe they are as incompetent as they came off or that there was too much red tape for them to do anything about Cleggett

One thing I was a little confused about was what happened to that NOPD officer/officers that were acting as security at Cleggett’s pill mill? Clearly they knew what was going on and probably were given a little cut from cleggett.
If I had to guess I would say nothing.
Can police be hired to do security jobs when they are not working and use their police equipment? For some reason I want to say there are some departments that allow it, maybe not.. But if they were hired and they were not on the clock then they really didn't do anything illegal.. I wouldn't think. But either way, there were bigger fish to fry at the time...They might have reported them to the department and let the department do what they felt they should do... Which was probably nothing.

Yes. It's pretty common for them to work 'extra duty' to supplement their income. You see this all around town in grocery stores, restaurants, etc. In most cases, it's a good way of having more cops in uniform around town without the dept paying for it.

But the DEA lady clearly said they took the case to the AG and the AG refused to prosecute. I don't know what else you would want them to do at that point.
Keep going back to the AG every day until they prosecute? I took what the older DEA lady said as her trying not to throw anyone under the bus for majorly fricking up with Cleggett, she definitely didn't act like she was proud of the job they did

THIS. And after reading other comments about other Drs/ Pharmacies.... There had to be someone(s) at the top protecting them all. If you look across the country, it was always multiple pill mills in concentrated areas.
Money > Peoples Lives.

I am not sure if this would be a conspiracy theory or something that is very likely.. But I think if you look who had the most to gain could have had a hand in creating all of this.. Purdue Pharma.
These pill mills were making them money hand over fist.

It's reached out across the world and Dan Schneider has been getting messages on Facebook every day from all corners of the earth.
Awareness to a societal issue is a HUGE step to fixing it.
Please keep sharing and discussing.

Was Danny happy with the documentary? Did they not include anything he was hoping they would or put something in it he wish they had not?

The most allowable double post ever .....I'm glad to see Dan's labor bringing more real eyes and awareness to the problem.

Everyone needs to realize, it was a MUCH different world in 1999. No real social media, $1 Trillion had yet to be spent on Homeland Security, and the DEA had a 24/7 hard on for all things cartel related and local cops had yet to catch on to corner dealers using pagers (The Wire is knowledge, yo).
Doctor's were the "good guys" with a very powerful lobby group. A new orleans DEA agent bucking the US Attorney General wouldve been career suicide as the definition of whistle blower at the time was Unemployable.
Couple all of this with this new world wide web thing (its like Prodigy but with more people!) and anyone who was tired, lazy, sore or couldn't sleep suddenly had a brand new group of like minded Yahoo chat room friends to diagnose them with Chronic Fatigue, RSD, or Fibromyalgia. And by God there had to be a something SOMEBODY could do to help them with all that pain.
And Purdue pharma did.

Of course there's always more someone in his shoes would like to see included. I think I touched on this part in an earlier reply but we all would have liked to see more details about Little Danny.

So this story is about a dad blaming others for his kid being a junkie?

Public records indicate that Cleggett, now 54, resides in a small apartment complex in East Baton Rouge.
Hopefully not in St. George.

Quite apparent the purpose of this documentary went right over your head. Perhaps you should stick to watching Sesame Street.

No not really. Why would we all want to see more about little Danny? That’s not what this documentary is about.
