re: "The Pharmacist"... Netflix Documentary Premiered Today!
The doc didn't discuss the NOPD angle.

She just hired a few off-duty NOPD cops as protection. Like you can do if you have a party. Here my HOA does it for block parties.

NOPD wasn't actually involved in her practice.

Guy working for printer company fixes printer and asks to be paid. Doc offers him narcotic prescriptions. Guy says he needs to actually be paid with money. Doc goes in the back. Cop comes back up front and hands the guy scripts saying, “I suggest you take these scripts and leave.”

That’s a tad more than just blindly working a security detail. That is being complicit.

I have not read the whole thread so excuse me if this has been discussed but did the documentary every discuss why the NOPD was a part of her practice? or what they said after the story broke? Or did I miss that segment?

This is just my opinion, but I doubt anything happened to them. They could have been working as off-duty security. If so, as far as they are concerned, all they knew (without evidence to prove otherwise) was that they were working security for a private clinic. There really isn't anything illegal about that.

I watched it. Off-duty cops were hired as security.

Are you saying the NOPD was officially involved with Cleggett's practice and Marlon or Pennington were sending deputies to protect her business.

The documentary didn't say that they were involved and no charges were brought against NOPD.

quote:

She hired New Orleans Police officers for security details, and her live-in boyfriend, who was a commissioned member of the Civil Sheriff’s Office, guarded the door, according to The Times-Picayune.

The individual police officers were corrupt in turning a blind eye to what was going on but not the department. NOPD was not charged by the DOJ.

I would have taken the scripts over cash. Go to the line and sell them $300ea

Dan Schneider mentions the owner of Bradley's Pharmacy as Mr. Claude several times. Do you happen to know Mr Claude's last name?

Back in the early '80s, I knew a guy at Southeastern named Claude who's father was also named Claude and ran a pharmacy in 'da Parish. Super nice guy, but was constantly fricking up largely because of drugs.

re: "The Pharmacist"... Netflix Documentary Premiered Today!
received this text from a friend about somethings left out:

quote:

A few things left out were: - Dan has more informants than just the fat dude Robbie. - From multiple informants it was told to Danny that one of Cleggett’s motives was to kill as many white people has she could. - Blacks would get a larger prescription of the stuff so they could sell the pills to the white kids. That is why the 16 year old girl, the smoking gun, had such a large amount of pills prescribed for her. - When Danny first contacted the Feds, the US District Attorney was Eddie Jordan. So remember the Federal agents said they where building a case, but still no one wanted to go after Cleggett sighting doctors take an oath. Well I don’t think Jordan went after any black criminals during his professional career. Google Eddie Jordan. - Cleggett was well connected. It was said she had some of the black politicians hanging around her clinic. Sherman Copelin’s name has been said to hang around Cleggett. Google Copelin. - Cleggett would make some of the white kids do sexual favors for her for their prescription. She didn’t want to be on the show. In order to get her on the producers told her she could tell her side of the story. That is why she showed up with a stack of papers. She talked for hours and put in what they wanted.

she is a horrible person, but this is even a bit much

From what I saw in the video, it looks like the only color she saw was green
