why didn't they?
Georgia law is specific about having to have first-hand knowledge of the person committing (or having committed) a felony. They did not have this, all they had was speculation. Even in Greg's statement he said Arvery looked like someone they thought had been stealing from the area and that they wanted to question him.
Police have the authority to stop someone for questioning, if you or I do it it can be considered Assault. If we do it while brandishing (not just having it in your possession) a weapon then that's Aggravated Assault.
My thought on this is that the McMichaels forgot they were no longer active LEOs (or just didn't care) thus they were operating at the lower bar.

i'm just stating what I saw in the video. Yall call it a roadblock and I just stating that he ran by this "roadblock" ran directly at Travis.
But what does that matter. The commission of felony assault occurred prior to AA even reaching the vehicle

I mean it does seem that Greg was an investigator (based on statement from DA) in a previous prosecution of Arbery. It will surely come up in the trial.
and why do you presume it will look bad for McMichael?
Character evidence of prior bad acts that are irrelevant and likely would be inadmissible (haven't done a criminal trial in a long time so I could be rusty on my evidence rules).
It would look bad because it further brings into questions of the McMichael's intentions. Whether true or not, it allows the defense, in court or with the media, to frame the narrative of, "Greg McMichael assumed Arbery was some thug up to no good because he arrested him for a crime he committed years ago, before he decided to get his life back on track." It lends credence to the racist profiling theory and not their story of performing a citizen's arrest.

Ok and he ran by the roadblock without a shot being fired and confronts Travis then a shot is fired.
Uh, he tried to run around the passenger's side, which is when Travis circles to the front of the truck with the shotgun.
When Travis circles to the front of the truck with the shotgun, that's when Arbery confronts him. You can also hear the first shot fired before Arbery gets to him.
If Travis doesn't come around to the front of the pickup, there's no indication Arbery doesn't jog on by.

It's completely irrelevant because it was under construction. Tatum missates that it was under renovation.
I'm not talking about the label Tatum is putting on it, I'm talking about that whole event being used in any way, shape or form when trying to give a motive for the McMichaels. They had no idea it had happened thus it's irrelevant.
To that event though, he didn't take anything nor did he appear to be looking for anything to take (to be fair though, it's only 7 seconds of a 3-minute video) so to me it looks far more like trespassing than burglary.

I still don’t see any justification for hunting him down full guns blazing.
Yea I always call 911 first and report it before I go hunt a man down with my guns a blazing.
Also talking to my quarry numerous times asking him to stop. Definitely hunting him down with guns blazing here.

How are you coming to the conclusion that if Travis didn't go from by the door of the truck to by the headlight Arbery would of kept running?

don't come in here with reasonable things

Most 911 reps would tell you not to follow a suspect and to let the police handle the situation.

They didn't know about the report of a guy walking into a house under construction?

No. And we know this for a fact. Tatum's entire video is based on two lies.

How?
Posted on 5/12/20 at 11:52 am to civiltiger07
Because the guy reporting the trespass is still on the phone with 911 when Greg sees AA running past their house. Greg is ALSO on the phone with 911 and abandons his call with them as AA passes. Travis and greg immediately thereafter get their guns and begin to chase AA in their truck. He DIDN'T see the security tape. He DIDN'T see AA inside the construction site. He DIDN'T speak with the man reporting the trespass.
It's all on tape.
It's all on tape.

Because Arbery had previously changed course away from them and when approaching the car, didn't run at the driver's side or confront the older guy in the truck bed.
He had multiple chances to confront either of them and chose to run away every time until Travis comes around the driver's door with the shotgun.

Why was Greg on the phone with 911 as well?

That's a completely incorrect reading of the situation and it leaves out some important information.
The McMichaels and another person had already tried chasing down Arvery and he had avoided them at least twice (the McMichaels once and "Roddy" once). Arvery dodged to the passenger side of the truck to avoid Travis McMichael and his shotgun. When Arvery did this Travis moved to continue the confrontation.

Going off of Greg's own words, because there was a black man running down the street.
He gives his location and says there's a black man running down the street. He then yells at the black man to "Stop right there" and then yells to his son, Travis. They get their guns and immediately begin chasing. This information comes solely from the security video, 911 audio of both calls and the police report.

No. They had no clue about it. From Greg McMichael's statement he saw someone they thought might be involved in some area thefts "hauling arse" down the road by his house. That's it.

This is exactly why it's dangerous to watch clowns like this Tatum guy. He fundamentally changed the situation by making an incorrect statement like "McMichael saw him in the house"
