Lived in Itah County '89-'04 and heard about kids going to that cave, having parties in the area, etc. Always warned our boys about not going into that cave. I remember hearing about this incident after we moved away

Oh man, if we got any O&G diver baws in here, I would really like yalls take on the Paria Diving Disaster video from the channel that posted the caving YouTube video.

They left 4 people to die in a 30 inch pipe where oil tankers berth.

Graphics and even the video make directional choice look more easy than when actually down there (like at split just stay right for Birth Canal and turnaround), but is there a good pic or graphic showing how easy it was to go wrong way there? Or easy to think opening too small and something else.

Searching either comes up with stuff that I can’t tell if actual place or a bunch of different shoes sticking out of a hole.

Did find this. She may have been fun in certain spots

Cave entrances are always crazy interesting, especially if you’re somewhere hot. That instant 20+ degree temperature drop and complete terrain shift has always been something fascinating, but that’s also enough for me. I’ve never had the pull to go exploring off into the dark and twisting passageways that are far from sunlight and surface.

I just don’t understand. Did he/they think it was wider than it was? It’s one thing to walk in to a massive cave. But going head first in to basically a damn hole? Why???

that graphic is plenty enough for me. It's a weird thing I was never claustrophobic growing up and have been in tight spots in the navy and even stuck in a 3 ft X 6 ft elevator at work for 1.5 hours but now the thought ready gets me. Hell I had my legs pinned under a blanket by my golden retriever in my own bed I freaked out and had to get my legs loose. It's Definity a mental thing but being stuck like that guy had to be one of the worst ways to die.

Crazy that his body is still in there, his bones have probably caved all the way into the crevice by now. It’s probably just a pile of his clothes, shoes and fragmented bones at this point.

This story is eerie as hell

I was having a mild panic attack (while on Xanax) in Carlsbad Caverns last summer.

I had a panic attack watching the documentary on the boys’ soccer team in Thailand.

I don't understand the allure of caving. There's nothing in there. It's just cave until you get to the end, and sometimes you die.

The allure is you can possibly find something undiscovered and/or be in a place on our planet where no other man has ever been. It’s exploring. Would I do it? Hell no, but I understand the allure.

get people trying to feel alive. I do. I understand their desire to push their limits and find things that add some verve to life that may not be there in the day to day. But to be willing to squeeze yourself between a mountain so tightly that you have to suck in your stomach and contort your body to squeeze through dark and narrow passageways...this kind of caving is something I can't get my mind around. It's impressive that people do it, but I also find it crazy.

I don’t get it either. Dark, wet, close quarters, who knows what critters in there. You get stuck you get to sit for hours/days until you die. Might as well be buried in a coffin alive.

I understand doing things like skydiving, at least if that goes wrong you die instantly
