Crazy that his body is still in there, his bones have probably caved all the way into the crevice by now. It’s probably just a pile of his clothes, shoes and fragmented bones at this point.

Just thinking about this guys bones having collapsed into the crevice he was trapped in makes me uneasy.

just watched the video. I'm not at all claustrophobic and now my blood pressure is pounding.

The fact that our bodies react this strongly to info graphics and animations is pretty crazy and amazing. Self preservation is so strong.

It’s literally wired into us “hey don’t fricking do this”

Thanks again for this thread.

Woke up at 3am this morning and started thinking about being in this hole upside down and unable to fully breathe and know you are slowly dying and can't do anything about it.

I appreciate it.

I just don’t understand. Did he/they think it was wider than it was? It’s one thing to walk in to a massive cave. But going head first in to basically a damn hole? Why???

He went in the wrong hole..Not trying to be funny but he mistakenly went into the wrong shaft

The only caves i have been in are huge and the smallest point you could still drive a bus thru it. That's about the smallest i will go. How people turn off the sense that things are getting way tight in a small space is beyond me.

First off, you'll never see my claustrophobic arse go into a cave, but many of these very narrow clearances will open up to a much wider cavity. I guess he thought that tightsqueeze would lead to a nice clearing.

Here is a guy crawling at 6x speed through the birth canal section of the cave that John Jones was trying to find, wouldn't ever be me:

Man, I had to stop the video a few times myself just because of how unsettling it was.

I read these quotes and thought no way this video is that unsettling. I made it to the part where he drops down into the hole upside down and had to turn it off

Imagine being the first guy to go into that part of the cave not knowing if it ever opens up or comes to a spot with enough room to turn around.

These folks are nuts.

When you have a family it becomes selfish and stupid to attempt things like this

They should have had at least attempted to break his legs, what’s the worst that could happen? He dies?

To be fair, he wasn't trying to be a daredevil. He thought he was in a well-known part of the cave. He got lost.

The description of where he was and where the rescuers were seems to imply there wasn't enough room to be able to maneuver but a couple of inches from your body. No idea how they would be able to break his legs in that situation.

What a horrific death. Probably won't sleep again tonight. Thanks again OP.

I don't understand the allure of caving. There's nothing in there. It's just cave until you get to the end, and sometimes you die.

First comment under this video, “What is the point of this? What are you expecting to find? A secret village of wish granting dwarves?”

But for real.

Yeah, I didn’t expect it to be such an unsettling video, but when you imagine yourself in that situation…

What a crazy story - I think the only way that guy could have been saved is if they could have broke his legs plus pully system or super strong person grabbing (which I am guessing anyone over 200 lbs prob couldn’t even fit down there).
