re: The lack of men going to college is truly astonishing

Guys want to graduate high school and start HVAC and plumbing businesses.
Girls will be frustrated with lack of men but can garner attention though online tramping such as OnlyFans. Or they can focus on nurturing same sex relationships.

Yep, universities are ran by the woke mob. Men not being brainwashed is this country's only hope.

This is easy to say and I understand it. The downside is being at the bottom of the totem pole, where your boss is generally the lowest level of management. They generally aren't educated or trained to be a manager. Once they know you have a house note they can make you eat shovels full of shite, and as long as production metrics are met their bosses let them get away with anything.

This.
Mike Rowe will be murdered by the college mafia.
It’s true though. If you don’t mind dirty hands, high five to lower six figure jobs are out there. And they make gloves now.

There's supposedly this massive shortage of tradesmen. Hop to it then.
Lol. They'll never admit that it's majority low-paid and kills your body.
When the rates for electricians and plumbers go up, that's when you'll know it's in demand. As of now, it's shite wages for awhile until you rank up, and then you either retire with a broken body or you're one of the lucky few who can start their own gig.

This country needs a better mix of college graduates and tradesman. Pushing everyone to go to college is about indoctrination to the left and expanding the college ecosystem/academia - not universally about bettering our people.
School isn’t for everyone and folks in the trades can do quite well, run their own businesses, etc.

Corporations literally give out bonuses for hiring more women.

Are all these missing college males really going into “the trades” or are they living at home with mom and dad playing video games until they’re 30?
1.8M females in graduate studies compared to 1.1M men? That is shocking if true.

This is what the goal has been for quite some time now, so if this is the case, consider it a win.

Doesn't shock me at all based on what I experienced when I worked in higher education. Again, this was the goal. Less males (especially white males), more exceptions and more females, especially when you are creating degree programs that purposely put people in debt for decades that aren't job-focused at all.

They’re heroes as far as I’m concerned. They certainly contribute more to society than 99.9% of college graduates do. The world needs electricity and plumbing a lot more than it needs CPAs or HR “professionals.” Unless you’ve got a STEM degree you probably don’t do anything all that important. Hell, even most engineering and doctoring could probably be done by a kid with a couple years or medical trade school and a ChatGPT account.

The biggest problem I've witnessed is that people aren't having their talents brought out. Some people are just really good with their hands. Very coordinated, good common sense, etc. Some people are the opposite. Society should be developing those with talent into fields that they could put those talents to best use.
We've overvalued didactic training for too long. There needs to be more practical education. Not just teaching a subject for the sake of education, but toward a purpose.
AKA: Making a productive society.

There's a very simple way to know how much society actually thinks of the trades and its all about wages. Their wages imply everything you just said is bullshite.
Spend a summer doing trades and you'll quickly realize why no one does it. Between all the small health risks/hazards and the way it breaks down your body overtime you can see why youths moved away from it. Their parents also likely discouraged it based on their experiences.
I'm guessing all of this talk occurs because of the average person that posts on this website.

I don't disagree that starting wages for say, a welder, are not all that great. However, with experience, and motivation a welder can make a very good living. Same could be said for any skilled trade. Their salaries often keep up with or outpace that average office worker.
Compare an accountant's income vs a welder. They're probably pretty close.

Right. I've told the story about having a tough time getting into the JATC, so much so that I went to school instead, so I won't tell it again.
But this idea that you can be a tradesperson and be better off than a college graduate with an in demand degree is ridiculous. Unless you start your own company, which is an entirely different skillset than the average electrician/plumber/carpenter possesses, you make above average money until your body wears out.
In a normal area union shop, you start around 13-15 as an apprentice, work up to journeyman at 35-40. That's good money, especially with OT, but it's back breaking labor and you can't do it past 50 unless you keep in shape.
An accounting degree, OTOH, starts at $60-65 in public with bonuses if you become a CPA. The pay jumps are quick, and within 5 years, if you've done the traditional route, you can be making will over $100k a year just by pivoting to an industry role.
If my son asks me what to do and he has the capacity to do both things, I'm telling him to go to school.

What a generalization. The dots you had to connect.

It's not how much you make as much as it is what you do with it.
