If I could go back, I’d go to trade school. I’d have certifications for HVAC, plumbing, and electric, and assume I still have the knowledge I currently do about AV stuff, then I’d call a DR Horton-like-company and do all the new construction work in an area for the rest of my life.

What is stopping all of yall from going into the trades now? Like 15 posters wish they were in the trades. There's supposedly this massive shortage of tradesmen. Hop to it then.

Females outnumber males in general

I said I’d rather my sons go to trade school than university. And that’s a very general statement. If they get to college age and have ability and drive to be engineers…I’m all about them going to school on scholarship and getting degrees. But if they’re like most kids and relatively shiftless I see no point in a degree for the sake of it.
I have no desire to be a tradesman. I’m happy hardly working in the AC for more money than I need. But my education was free.

It's 60-40 and not 90-10. 4000 out of 10,000 are males. There's still plenty of guys in college to thwart the horrors you suggest. What a time to be a guy in college...

These men not going to college, but rather taking loans for their tools, etc., are needed to pay the taxes that will cover the costs of the college loan/debt forgiveness fiasco.

I thought we agreed that college was stupid and everybody should learn to HVAC

I catch them on Bally but I do know the local IBEW does have a sign out in right field

The dudes will be making $150K as master plumbers while the Liberal Arts chicks making $50K in their cubicle will look down their noses at them for not having a degree.

Now do K-5 teachers. It's approximately ~90% female.
Where I am kindergarten/nursery's and primary/elementary schools are crying out for male teachers - in fact most are probably promoted early - because of this dearth. I believe there's a recognition that so many young boys don't have an older male role model anywhere that a teacher can be that.
But shockingly men in general don't want to deal with little kids who shite themselves for less pay than high school.

Based on my experience eating on campus at LSU, most LSU students are black males that ride electric scooters.

We adopted a Prussian educational system design to teach girls, sooner or later this was going to be the result

Let's be realistic, unless they own their own business master plumbers in LA are not making $150k a year without a good chunk of overtime.

I've got a friend that pulls down that much as an independent plumber, but that's in DFW.

My 16 Year old grandson just made a 34 on his ACT on his first try. He plans is to be a pediatric doctor. In the past, he would have had a welcome mat. I am worried about the obstacles that could be laid in his path.

We have stopped caring about Men in this society. Men have higher rates of suicide, longer criminal sentences, are being outpaced in college, hiring, ect. It doesn't take a genius to see the trainwreck in society coming. A bunch of men, under appreciated and without positive influences (religion, career, family) all while getting shite on by society is going to be a recipe for disaster.

This is stupid as frick. Men killing their bodies and working in nonstop extreme heat for months out of their years is supposed to be a superior option? Congrats on your alpha stupidity, but air conditioning and a functioning back sound like perfectly valid reasons to be "brainwashed."
fricking Southern assholes who literally don't care about their sons bodies should get fricking bent.
