Kinda leaving some important things out

The Spanish nationalist onboard will be taken to a quarantine

The international passengers will also be released only at the approval of their countries health officials, they will also be placed in quarantine . I have seen nothing saying the passengers are going to be free of quarantine anywhere

Honkus can fill you in on how that works.

so they're being taken off the boat, but not just released all nilly willy to the general public.

at least not right away.

sure i'm fine with that, that's reasonable.

They are letting them leave, but they are still going to quarantine

The Spanish people on the ship will quarantine for 15 days once they get off

I guess it will be up to the other countries to see how they handle it

Yes; they are just being handed over to their countries health officials. Span isn’t letting them take an uber to the airport

Honkus had to be freed from China. But if was done under quarantine and then he had weeks quarantine in America. This is the same at this point except Spain is a western country that is doing this willingly and not under threat to let other nationals go

Newsweek says a french man, who was not on the cruise, has the virus after sharing a flight with one of the passengers

quote:

A French person who had not set foot on the hantavirus-stricken MV Hondius has fallen ill with the infection after taking a flight with a passenger, it was reported Wednesday.

The latest patient, reported by The Sun newspaper, joins a list of other Europeans being treated for the deadly virus which has world health officials working quickly to contact trace anyone else who may have been affected, including a group in South Africa.

Investigators were working with a leading theory Wednesday that a couple on the cruise ship contracted hantavirus while birdwatching in Argentina, before the ship headed for Europe.

People were let off the boat before it was known. That’s been established. Nothing can be done about that

Yeah, I pointed that out in my OP but people ITT are trying to say you had to basically kiss to spread it, but if this is true, this man got it from sharing the flight.

the wife of the guy that died flew back to South Africa before anyone knew it was hantavirus, and she later died and tested positive for it after she died

I'm sure every passenger on the that plane is now being contacted by WHO

Even though its obviously gotten out of the confines of the ship at this point, you don't make matters worse by letting people on the ship out of quarantine before being 100% sure. Off the boat but in quanantine, ok. Off the boat and sitting at home with friends and family, frick no.

Th Frenchman hasn’t been lab confirmed of anything yet. He is sick and on the plane so at the time they are treating him as a potential contact case

Will have to see if he actually has hantavirus later

I'm surprised they didn't save this for 2028.

Here's to hoping this doesn't become a 2+ year long stickied thread that devolves into vaccine efficacy.
