The subheads are confusing
This contradicts the President of Spain telling the President of the Island that he would have to accept the passengers infected or not all disembarking on the Canary Islands. Where they weren't wanted.
Since the Canary Islands were named for dogs, the phrase disembarking is a sad irony.

At what rate does it progress to HPS?

50% of which population died from "severe" covid?

Did anyone else have Ebola flash backs with the photos of the three evacuated from the ship?
The books about the spread of Ebola and how easily the barriers failed should be required reading for decision makers.

Isn’t this what Gene Hackmans wife died from?

Correct, usually for someone to contract Hanta you would need to be exposed to a large amount of droppings. Typically in the 4 Corners area of the SW US or California. These are usually people cleaning out summer cabins or visiting them and being exposed. Based on reports the Hackman home was filthy so likely explains how she contracted it. In this case visiting a landfill for bird watching likely exposed the couple to an inordinate amount of mouse excrement. This being the Andes strain means it can transmit person to person, but only people in close contact or in a sealed area for prolonged periods of time.

Yeah seems like just a perfect storm for human to human transmission for the Dutch couple to catch this strain right before boarding a tightly confined cruise for a month. Hard to design a more disease friendly environment for transmission. Going to a lot of cold places so people inside a lot.
This version of the disease that spreads between humans has been in Argentina and Chile for a long time and never been a real issue as far as mass spreading. Guess we’ll see if it gets significantly past the cruise ship as far as spreading. Would be time to take notice then.

This seems really bad. I ordered some Covid masks and I hope to get them before it’s too late!

2 weeks to slow the spread.

Two flights of people in a long metal tube, breathing the same recycled air as two people from the ship, then going home to their families, is concerning
Planes only recycle 50% of their air, and that goes through filters to extract bacteria and viruses. Contrary to popular belief, planes are not big transmission risks.

It’s not even contagious. Nothing to be worried about at all.
