Amite crest at Denham Springs revised another 2 feet upward to 46 feet. Another 5 feet! Unreal.

So not worth it. I get her wanting to be there but no way would I risk it.

looks like I have some friends stuck in Watson
If I was to go get them anyone know where I can launch from the east?
I'd be coming from Hammond
I just need a couple feet of water

What does Zone AE mean?
quote:
Zone AE are areas that have a 1% probability of flooding every year (also known as the "100-year floodplain"), and where predicted flood water elevations above mean sea level have been established. Properties in Zone AE are considered to be at high risk of flooding under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).May 22, 2009
FEMA flood zone inside the 500 year flood plane. Flood zone X is outside the plane, if your property is zoned anything but X, banks usually force you to purchase flood insurance.

Is the flooding near Kenilworth / Dawson's creek expected to decline over the next week or get worse? I see it's supposed to rain every day, but is that intermittent rain or non-stop rain?

Things appear to be getting bad in Central this morning. Several people in Magnolia Lakes have posted status updates requesting boat rescues and that they are in the attics.
Parents live off of Frenchtown Road and are being told they will be required to evacuate from Country Roads and Geo-Jays subdivisions.

Zone AE is a FEMA classification for areas within the 100 year floodplain with known base flood elevations.
100 yr floodplain means you are in the flood zone of a storm that has 1 in 100 chance of happening each year

Yep central is getting bad. My gf's grandmother and mother tried to get out but realized it was too high to drive. I think they found some high ground with a neighbor

Does anyone know how people can help those that have been flooded out of their homes?

Dear God this is horrible.
My parents just made it out with water coming into their house an hour ago. Sick to my stomach for a while as I know their vehicle wasn't that high.
I lived through 83 and many prayers to all affected.

I'm in Lake Charles so there's little I can do for anyone, but this has been shared on Facebook. If you guys want to share or get this information out, do so.....if you can help just one person, it's better than zero.

I'm in Bunkie and everything north of here is pretty much unaffected at this point.

The circle on Red Maple Lane is already under, but that is not unusual for a flood.
I grew up in there and know the land like the back of my hand. I cant fathom that much water coming up high enough to flood the other streets.

Unfortunately, this appears in some ways to be Baton Rouge's version of Houston's Tropical Storm Allison in 2001. The rainfall totals may not reach those levels, but the outcome may be nearly as bad due to the topography of BR and the entire Amite river basin.

It's really starting to come down in Broussard. Starting to get some street flooding. Yesterday it was up passed the sidewalk.

What area of Broussard are you in?
