It's been like that since last night

Hmmm. In my two trips two hours apart, I found it a bit higher. And i think it is also higher than what I saw around 9 at night. Both at Albertsons at Burbank and at Burbabk/Siegen/Highland intersection.

The failure of so many significant gauges at such a critical time is upsetting. With all the money allocated to homeland security, and to the NWS, etc. you would hope the equipment is modern and maintained properly.

Agreed, but apparently this stuff falls under the Department of Commerce, which was news to me.

Additionally, many of the basin gages are read manually, which is baffling.

According to the Ascension Homeland Security Facebook they are running to full capacity. The water is just coming in faster than they can pump.

It was a little higher but not anything significant IMO. I went there around 9 last night and again today around noon and then around 3. You're able to pass just fine if you're over in the far left lane.

Aimte at French Settlement is falling. at 8.92 from 8.99 within in the last hour!

IDK what is going on at that gage. Readings went up to 9.02 feet, then the readings at 30 minute intervals were 8.92, 8.00, 8.10, 8.30, 8.40, 8.50, 8.50, 8.50.

Does anyone know the location of the Entergy power station that feeds the Bluff/Old Perkins area? The Ascension OEP lady's talking about possible power outages if (when?) the power stations take on water...

East baton rouge parish needs to look into federal funding for gauges with this disaster declaration. I think that's what Harris County did after Allison. Now there are gauges all over the country that are awesome.

Springlake update: I know of just one storm drain causing a small leakage on the road. It is on corner of Springtree/Hillrose. Very very minor water. That storm drain was always higher than others since last 2 days. All other drains I observed were at least 4-5 inches below their openings.

The storm drain is full, it's not leaking. Backwaters have filled it up and now it is seeping into the street.
It will continue to do this as long as the backwaters keep rising in your subdivision.

The other catch basins will eventually do the same if they fill up.

Estimate the level of the water in the catch basin and guesstimate the nearby slab level and you get a rough idea of just how much more the water level has to rise to impact homes.

Distance from the catch basin to the homes mean nothing, the amount the water level has to rise means everything.

Henderson pumps were shut down Sunday I believe. But they aren't nearly as big as Marvin Braud. Maybe 1/5 or less. Henderson is more of a flood gate than pump station.

FWIW, that crest for the Amite @ French Settlement, if accurate, is 2.5 feet higher than the 1983 crest.

Just got back from Florida. Hits coming. Our new place is way under. 4-5 feet of water in addition to storage unit gone.

I could never truly know how Katrina folks felt until now. This is devastating and I understand now why everything my husband's family says is "pre" or "post" Katrina when storytelling.

Brother lives on Windsor...everything was high and dry for him, but the subdivision was sort of on an island with the flooding that occurs around Buddy Ellis and John L, as well as flooding on Buddy Ellis and Walker South.

Unsure of the amount of flooding around John L and Brown Rd.

Anybody have any info on the water levels we should expect in that area? We already probably have 5-6 feet in the house I'm sure but I am trying to get a feel for what to expect with the rest of the area

Yes that's what I meant. Sorry for the incorrect choice of words.
