When you have property at risk, families counting on you for leadership, I try to keep up and advise people of what might happen.
I have found the quality of information to be relatively poor.
Not from here so much as from authorities and the media. People here have gone the extra mile and then some to provide clarity and sound facts.

East baton rouge parish needs to look into federal funding for gauges with this disaster declaration. I think that's what Harris County did after Allison. Now there are gauges all over the country that are awesome.
I've got no clue how the gages are divided up. You've got gages less than 2 miles from one another in EBR in some places, and then you've got places like Iberia Parish with zero gages and Lafayette, St. Martin, Acadia, Vermillion, Cameron, etc. with only 1 gage in the whole parish. Even if you go to the USGS website and look at gages they're few and far between in those areas.

Anybody have any info on the water levels we should expect in that area? We already probably have 5-6 feet in the house I'm sure but I am trying to get a feel for what to expect with the rest of the area
If the Amite in French Settlement has crested, that could be a good indication that St Amant area could be leveling out soon. As far as how much more rise, nobody knows.

I just got an email from Juban's saying they are closing this evening due to a "parish mandated curfew in East Baton Rouge Parish". I'm not seeing this anywhere else. Is this a thing?

Ponderosa facing toward Old Hammond. ETA It gets deeper the further down Ponderosa you go.
Is it falling on Ponderosa or holding steady? Need to try and get by the Mobil as soon as cars can pass.

Y'all able to salvage anything in storage? Went by this morning and the gate was closed other 1 blocked by the truck.

Yeah it's strange. But there's no doubt they're immensely helpful in these situations when operating. Just need funding to get some more.

When was that pic taken?
Posted on 8/15/16 at 4:35 pm to Morecowbell
I have not heard of that, maybe someone else had.

and two gauges at that at all the locations taking the same measurement two different ways.
However, I would be afraid that money would get into a politicians pockets and be used for a worthless pet project.

Considering how that side of Ponderosa appears to be lower elevated than the other end, that's doubtful.

Just back from another round in St Amant:
431 at R Daigle is starting to take on water from the east.
St Amant High looks to be taking on some water.
Church Point Road, which runs along the side of SAHS is being overtaken with water from the south. (New River Canal?)
431 at Weber City is taking on water
431 turns into Hwy 30 at Airline and 30 is fine all the way to I-10 and beyond.
Someone asked about South Hodgeson. It is flooded south of Hwy 30 and barricaded, so I don't know how bad.

No, you would have to get off to go on I-55 to 190 to go west to Walker

Its weird because when it flooded on ponderosa when I was in college we were dry across the street from the Mobil, and now it looks like its higher where our house is compared to closer to florida blvd. Either way, it's not good.
