It’s because the OT is no longer 80% 20 year olds who all go to Bogies and meet irl. It’s mostly boomers and x-ers with kids now.

Plus, in the Bush/Obama era, it was easier to separate politics from life. The media and SJW movement started ramping up injecting politics into absolutely everything around 2012, and have only pushed exponentially farther every year since 2016. The OT has become more political as the media has driven every decision and activity in life to be political. The OT, much like sports, music, bar life, restaurants, and non-news programs, used to be my escape from politics. Now, there are far fewer escapes left, and the OT Is no exception.

The worst thing to happen to the OT, though, was the creation of the SEC OT. I don’t know why it made this board so much shittier when that board gets so little traffic, but it definitely did.

So I actually like OWS, and yes he can be annoying with the keto shite but he means well. Yes he can be a douche, but overall seems like a successful and good person.

I was a member of the old board before the format roll over and consider myself an OG here as I was pre 2003 and actually made my first post on 2001. I never found the board to be a frat star haven, opposite actually....always.

And the younger gen that is college now does post and lurk on here, especially the older ones. Many of the incoming and freshman though are more into other forms of social media.

And what ruined Facebook is the bitching, not boomers. There were whiny count when Facebook was edu only, but most where at least hot lol.

Now you got 40 year old fat women whining about there husband's leaving them and how life isn't fair etc. They fricking suck.

Got others that post dumbass comments wanting to control everyone's life, then get pissed off if they are challenged in the least.

Got TDS on both sides. Trump derangement and Trump and Trump devotion. He can do no wrong or no right depending on who is posting.

Got many in the black community who feel they can post whatever they want and they can't be racists. Got many in the white community who feel the same damn way.

Facebook has just given a platform to those that are low IQ and have very little critical thinking skills. But in general you can solve that with the unlike button but then you run the risk of becoming an echo chamber which also fricking sucks.

I don't think the 2016 ran people off. It's the bleed over from the poli board that annoys people. People come to the OT to get away from that shite. I love the poli board but in general if you come on there just spewing talking points and have nothing to back it up....you will be slaughtered. The OT is supposed to be about things being fun and light topics.

Also having so many different boards has hurt the OT. But overall you will not find another board close to as good as this. Nor is TD dying at all.

Every time they make a new board, it takes away from somewhere, usually the OT.

I don’t really Facebook but I have an account, but I don’t think this word demise means what you think it means. Ole Zuckerberg is kinda doing ok right now.

Yeah but no longer is TD drawing in the frat stars on the front lines. This is a sign of death.

No websites are drawing large numbers of young people. Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat dominate with the age group you’re describing. That wasn’t the case 10 years ago.

I do recall the daily “what’s your frat level today?” Threads

Perils polo, cole haan loafers, chubbies, ray bans. FAF

They were cringey. Don’t recall the user because he doesn’t post anymore, but there was one guy that posted on the OT a lot and was the ring leader for that kind of stuff. Dooshay maybe?

I was 14 when I joined this site (different username).

I was 17 when I created this handle. I also lived in Louisiana.

So yeah, now I'm coming up on 30 and live in Idaho. People change.

Been married to my wife for coming up on 3 years, together for 6 total. I've been on this site twice as long as I've known her. Going from my old handle, in 2021 I will have been a member of this board for over half of my life.

It really is crazy just how much time you can stay active on a board.

TD is one of the last few message boards remaining from the old days of the internet. I remember when rivals was really active, around 2002, I'd hang out there. So many off-topic message boards as well.

I really hope Chicken understands what an anomaly it is to still have a functioning, old format message board.
