The Basilica of the Sacred Family, located in Barcelona, broke ground all the way back in 1882. On the 100th anniversary of the main architect's death, the central tower - which represents Jesus Christ - has been completed and formally blessed by Pope Leo XIV. The celebration outside the cathedral was nothing short of spectacular as the whole church was lit up for the very first time:

I’ve seen and toured it. Extremely impressive. Must see if in Barcelona along with other Gaudi buildings. It’s where the term “gaudi” comes from.

Been there twice, last time was 2 years ago and got to tour the interior. Majestic is an understatement.

The Gaudi Tour of Barcelona is an absolute must. Incredible man and Sagrada Familia is priceless. That video was great. Awesome way to honor Gaudi and officially open the entire church

I remember being in elementary school and learning that it had been under construction for over a hundred years. I’m 50.

Im glad they got it done.

I went there a few years ago. It really is an amazing cathedral. Huge and imposing but also nothing else like it.

The Loop of BR project recently admitted in an interim secret conceptual design document that they are jealous of the SF Cathedral’s timeline and budget.
