It’s where the term “gaudi” comes from.

You know, I am very aware of the term, but I don't think I've ever seen it written out haha

OP: Akchually...it's not a cathedral. Cathedral is a very specific term for the church where they bishop's chair--the symbol of his office and teaching authority, called his cathedra, is located.

Sagrada Familia IS a basilica, a term and designation of honor and historical significance.

It's definitely on my to visit list. Good thread.

If Catholicism is real, then why didn’t God help them complete the cathedral faster?

I've been to a ton of churches in europe and this one takes the cake. It is incredible

We were there a couple weeks ago. And I agree it’s absolutely nuts. The structure itself is mind numbing. The natural light inside and the color patterns made by the stained glass was unreal. They went something like 118 years before even closing in the roof!!

We also toured St Peter’s, and attended Pentecost Sunday mass with the Pope. St. Peter’s is no slouch either. But St Mark’s in Venice blew my mind with the sheer amount of gold that the Catholic Church has tied up in there. I’d love to know a dollar amount for all that 24k gold leaf tile glued to the ceiling and walls.

Fireworks, flashing lights, and drone shows.. I thought that was an evangelical thing? In all seriousness, pretty church.
