I got bad news for you buddy. Take 3 months away from companies and 50% probably won’t make it.

I'm guessing small businesses and mom and pop restaurants

It wasn’t too long ago that a crisis like this would increase newspaper readership.

For good reason, they want to charge everyone to read the same articles they can’t take 2 minutes to spell check. Aside from 1 or 2 special investigative pieces a year, it’s shite journalism. They sold out years ago and the product they put out makes it obvious

The only reason I read the Advocate is for LSU sports.

There’s not a lot of that to write about these days...

In a way I’m getting schadenfreude from the Advocate’s problems. They are an arrogant, incompetent bunch running that place now. The Manships were arrogant but they knew what they were doing managing the paper.

The Manships were old BR. The old man was arrogant, but they were newspaper people.
His newspaper died years ago.

Their coverage of President Trump’s Saturday press briefing on the virus was one lie after another. That was the only daily press briefing that I’ve watched from beginning to end so I know what he and the others with him said.

The Advocate’s version was fiction.

It claimed he said things that he didn’t say and it said Dr. Fauci said things he didn’t say. And they omitted some important things both of them said. Pure garbage.

Thank goodness John Georges is not tempted to spend his billion or inherited dollars keeping everybody on the payroll.

The guys primary business is booming and he is lying people off. What a shame

Ross Dellenger’s wife Elizabeth Crisp posted on Twitter that she lost her job. They moved to DC because she took the job covering the Louisiana congressional delegation. Now she’s out of work.

She covered the La legislature for several years and was the absolute best at it. I really feel bad for her and Ross.

She has been part of the problem with the Advocate.

She wrote every news story on our congressional delegation as if it were on the Op-Ed page instead of a news section.

Her political bias was annoying to the point where her political news "facts" couldn't be trusted to be accurate.

She contributed to her paper's decline.

John Georges and The Advocate has ruined what was a great web site in nola.com now. Even if TP had gone down some before he took it over, that site always had a great layout and a very popular commenting section. Now the site is a bunch of pop-up ads, pleas for money and shallow, brief stories with the most awful comment section setup known to man (done intentionally most likely). Online updates are not posted nearly as much as you think they would be either seeing as it's now the only major paper around here. I understand that every business needs money, but you have to give people something worth paying for.
