Thought this was going to read "2 weeks ago my dad was at a meeting. My mom thought he was in the bathroom. He was in Boston."

Nope. It’s more of a roommate situation.
So what? Unless they're arguing constantly it's a happy marriage. Mind your own business.

You would probably be surprised if you learned how many older couples live. Like someone said, when you revolve your life around your kids, you don't know what to do once they are gone. Two people who like to do something different. They do what they enjoy, if that makes them happy what's the big deal? What do you want them to do?

Yea I stopped reading there. Wtf does that have to do with his marriage? Sounds douchey.

How do you know that they’re not happy with the arrangement? Marriage isn’t always butterflies and sugar.
I think they can be "happy" like that but the richness of marriage comes from sharing life with someone.

OP, I hear you. I been married to my wife 39 years. I feel that lately we grown apart some. It is not like I love my wife, I just don't know. Guess we take each other for granite.
More so in the last couple years.
My health sucks somewhat, the wife ties her day time with our grandson. At this point in life, retired and no interest of moving along, I feel we are taking new roads.
I been searching for something to do together with the wife, but really yet to find a answer. I guess we the older people that are retired feel we lived our lives out.

I am giving up a down vote for this. Reason, us old folks paid the piper.

Expired food isn't necessarily an early indicator of dementia. A lot of our parents 60+ grew up with food without expiration dates and they had to use sight and smell to make those determinations. Now when they start eating expired foods that have visible indicators that they shouldn't eat them, that's when you should be very concerned.
My mom was doing this after my sister moved out but It was more of a she just needed to transition to buying smaller quantities of food thing since she only had 1 mouth to feed. 5 years later and it's fine and she pays attention to dates.

Your situation is better than mine . BIL made a joke about divorcing wife at dinner , except it wasn’t a joke . Big mess afterwards

You know the couples who are still as starry eyed about one another as the day they met? Those people are unicorns.

I agree but many people aren’t wired like that.

My parents are pretty much like that.
I guess it skips a fricking generation or something.

I can promise you they are very content. The have the comfort of knowing the house situation is taken care of and they aren’t trying to screw each other over and then can live their own independent lives as they please.
This literally may be the greatest relationship possible

My grandparents have been married 50 years and I’m pretty sure my grandpa plays golf most days and my grandma just does rich old Shreveport lady shite all day. They love each other to death. It works.

That sounds like you were screwed out of double birthday parties and double Christmas Day presents
Common misconception. It’s the same gifts, divided into two events. Just ask my Dad. He bought me a Super Nintendo for Christmas but I had to wait until New Years for the games for it from my Mom.
